  • Hi Jan, I understand that you were planning to move to a compassionate state due to your husband's positive trial with marijuana when you were vacation. Have you done that? Do you still feel it is an effective tool to slow the progression of ALS? I've been reading a lot about it, and it really does sound like it might be nerve protecting in addition to managing symptoms. Have you read this? It is pretty technical, but is certainly convincing!

Just wanted to get your opinion at this point. Alaska does grant medical marijuana cards for certain circumstances, so we are wondering if we should pursue this option. The odd thing is, they will give you a card allowing you to have a certain amount, but there is no legal way to buy it!

Thanks for any advice you can share. Hope all is well with you and your family,

    Jo
I've had to run the VA course without any real help. First, find one good doctor. We found someone in neurology that really went to bat for us. He wrote us a "blank check" with PT and OT. That got the right eqiupment to the house. Secondly, you need a good C & P exam. If you are unhappy with the decision, file for a new one immediately. Hopefully, ALS will be considered 100% disabling, soon - not just 30%. The VA doctors will be much more sympathetic than your local doctors. As for home health care - I'm still waging that war. I'll let you know if I find a clearer path!!
yes, waiting to hear back! he saw va dr last sat. took 10 minutes and no more testing. hubby is going down quick right now, sure hope it slows again soon.
