  • Carol,
I read your post Friday and it really struck me, and I have been thinking it and praying for you all weekend. I'm so sorry you're alone dealing with this, but I have to believe that there are more people around you who care about you and would want to help than maybe you realize. That sounds presumptuous and I don't mean it to be. Anyway, I'm wishing you a good day tomorrow
Carol, I am so sorry for all that you are going through and I wish that there was something real that I could do to help you. I guess that I may be one of those who seem to be chipper about having ALS but let me assure you I too have some down days because I know that in the end this disease will get me too. That said , I can't cry all the time and I don't think that you can either. Life is so sad with this disease that takes away all of your physical abilities but leaves your mind intact to dwell on all that was so I hope that you have some good days and enjoy the companionship of your dog.
Hi Madison1943, Wow you have a tough road ahead of you hun. I hate that you are going it alone. What kind of dog do you have? I dont have ALS, its my dad, but I am really attached to my dachshunds, and every time I leave the house I feel guilty. I have my own pain issues with fibromyalgia, arthritis etc and when I cant walk them, (which is most of the time) I feel horrible. Just remember that your dog loves you unconditionally and understands that there is something wrong. I know those are just words coming from one guilty dog owner to another, but its true. Hang in there and if you ever need to talk, I am here for ya!...............Hugs, Kari
What is your ALS dx if I may ask? I sent you a friend request. I so understand your stand on the DNR. Not everyone can imagine life as life with tubes. hugs, Kay Marie
Madison1943..Hello, I hope you find all you need here!! We used to live in Portage and Pardeeville 10 yrs ago. Beautiful country. My hubby had the same feeling about the PEG and vent. He has since changed his mind about the PEG. That is a terrible way to suffer! He and I still agree w/the No vent idea. He doesn't want to be a burden.
Just wanted to stop by and say Welcome to the forum :] We people in the Midwest have to stick together! My BIL graduated from College there and I had the opportunity to visist-LOVELY city. How are you today? hugs, Kay Marie
