  • Good, Lydia. Marsha has been approved for 24 hour care ... but not using it all, and she really likes her new caretaker. Skyped with her this morning and she was in the best spirits I've seen in a while. We talked about the forum ... she's just not type, but she says she'll be along soon. So, I started the thread ... he-he he -- we're old catholics, I'll guilt her into it. She was asking me about nausea and not exactly pleased with the docs words. I said "You want answers -- go to the ALS Forum"
Hi Lydia! Diane told me about your Schnoodle and I just have to say that Gus is absolutely adorable. He looks like a white version of my Chico. If you ever need any advice, feel free to ask. I've had my sweet dog for over 14 years and although he is quite old now, blind and somewhat deaf, he is still a very happy energetic little guy with a huge personality and a ton of love to give. I wish you the same joy with your Gus as I have had with Chico! Sending many hugs and good wishes, xoxo Rosella
Gus is a great name! Good job all the way around. Phoenix tolerates Ernie, and that's as good as its probably going to get, but, Ernie loves Phoenix, in his heart I'm sure he thinks of himself as part of the dynamic duo, Phoenix being the other half.... he got another chipmunk. Not happy with this at all!! Gus may not grow a whole lot more. I've always had big dogs before Ernie, and was surprised he stopped as early as he did. I guess that is to be expected with smaller breeds though. It sounds like you made an excellent decision getting him. IMHO no dog is good at steps when they're young. And Ernie still does not go down the basement steps. He went down once, and the only way we know, is because he carried a container of goldfish food that was stored down there upstairs to the diningroom and chewed it open. Did that stink or what! I will write soon, just so exhausted tonight, and trying to catch up with what's been going on here.
PS, Ernie weighs a little under 23 pounds, but he's tall, comes up almost to my knees. He caught a chipmunk and I'm so destroyed over it. It was days before I could even start to forgive him!
Ernie stunk so bad when I got him, the first thing I did was give him a bath! But actually, Schnoodles have very little body odor, you'll be able to pet him and not have a stinky hand afterward (or stinky bed if you end up sharing lol) Congratulations. I'm sure your cats do not approve. I'm going to let Rosella know :) Chico can be among a band of brothers.
    Lydia,

I plan to write you soon, still mulling over what the neuro said to you. No great wisdom has yet sprung up in my thoughts though. Don was off for a few days and things are now just getting back to normal for me (read: recovering!) talk to you soon
    hi lydia.
did you get any answers as to the possible mitochondrial dx?
please look at my post on the pls forum,i am begining to suspect that mitochondrial dysfunction could be the cause of my pls symptoms......may be wrong.
lokking at past posts i noticed this was mentioned to you and i posted your symptoms were very much like mine.
    take care.caroline
thanks Lydia for your support. This doc only mentioned that I could try taking a med that would help with dystonia if I have it, but she didn't say she suspects I have it, she is only guessing at this point and suggesting that if I take this med and it helps, then I must have dystonia. But if it doesn't help, then I do not have it. I find her suggestion appauling actually! That is not the way to diagnose a condition in anyone! ~Joyce
Lydia, did you get a pm from me recently? It seems like some of mine have gotten lost in cyber space recently.
