    Flying free soon

My husband who has ALS/FTD will be flying free soon and going home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was diagnosed in May of last year. He has pneumonia and his lungs are completely full. It happened in a matter of hours. He’s resting comfortably now but had a rough day...

    Very Scared Bulbar Als??

Others would notice your speech long before you do. I noticed my husband was slurring his words and someone at a work meeting thought he was drunk.

    Aspiration

Yes, his needs are beyond what I can take care of at home now with the dementia. We did consult with a palliative care person and the doctors at the SNF will meet with me to decide on Comfort care. It’s just so sad to see him coughing and hearing all the phlegm rattling in his chest. They’re...

    Aspiration

My PALS aspirated his yogurt a few days ago. This is our first trip to the ER because of this. They are doing breathing treatments and suction every four hours. Doing IV antibiotics. SATS staying around 90 until last night when he wouldn’t use his bipap and he was in the 80’s. My daughter came...

I think I'm finally giving up

Thank you for bringing up this topic. Don’t consider it a failure! I just called the fire department for the umpteenth time to pick him up off the floor and feel like I’m losing the battle to take good care of my PALS too. He also has FTD, so we got a double whammy. You do what you need to do...

I am so afraid...Is this ALS?

Doesn’t sound remotely like ALS, but you definitely need to work with your doctors to find the cause of your symptoms. Could be autoimmune?

    Problematic in-laws

Your FIL really sounds toxic. Just let your husband decide when and if he wants to see them, but I wouldn’t travel to wherever they are. Make them come to you. I’m sorry you’re in this situation!

    A Sad Day

I do know how it feels. I see our pictures of skiing and others from vacations and I can’t remember how it was! My husband has FTD as well, so he doesn’t really communicate anymore. I wish we had taken more videos him so I could still here him speak. I only have a few plus his voicemail. This...

Thoughts on Chemical Exposure causing ALS?

My PALS was in Desert Storm, so I think he had chemical exposure and who knows what in some of the vaccines that he got. He also has FTD.
