Hi everyone, I am new to this forum but have been reading it for the past week and a half since my father was diagnosed with ALS. Your stories and help for others is very comforting. My dad has been losing his strength in his foot and legs for the past 5 months. He has had a drop foot since around January then started losing his balance and falling a lot. Then it progressed to having to use a cane to walk, now the walker is necessary and he cannot stand up straight without it. It is really scaring me how quickly it is progressing, it just seems like yesterday that he was riding his bike 10 miles a day. I do agree with a lot of people that the only good thing I can say about this horrible disease is that we are coming together more then ever as a family and are living every day like it was our last doing something fun with him, every moment we spend together is special. I love him so much and hate to see him this way. Thank you for being such a wonderful place to get support.
