    possible bulbar als/ weird symptoms

No honey. Tingling, pain, and slurring-- all rule out the onset of ALS. Even the slurring starts out differently, with a gravelly voice and others can hear it. Please forget about ALS, you don't have it. Go to a doctor to get the symptoms you are having checked out.

i think i have als please help me!

I'm not trying to be nasty, but all these young people with anxiety. Makes me wonder about bipolar I/II, but a psychiatrist will screen for that. It also makes me wonder if it's all the same person and they're just messing with us.

    Peg tube

My PALS choked on his lunch, then got the PEG. We found it to be easy. Far better than being hungry and scared to eat. I say do the tube.

    New bulbar onset

Hi and welcome, sorry you are saddled with this illness. My opinion is this: The older we are (I'm fifty-eight), the more aware we are that the end will come. I've had a great run, and if it's over tomorrow.... I'm okay with that. Remember drugs are your friend. Hang around with us for...

Hope is what gets us through

Sarah, it's so nice hearing from a young person who cares and tries to help. So refreshing that you aren't whining about not having enough 'me' time. I love this: Never take away a person's hope, it may be all they have.

    Really scared..

Max, you're a hoot! Does that really work?

Has anyone ever had a broken bone post diagonsis?

Sara, I'm sorry to hear this. You don't have to stay in bed for 4 weeks, do you? Maybe you can be up sooner than that. I hope. Have you guys considered using a gait belt? Our medical staff never told us about them, but they look easy. There's some youtube videos on it. My PALS fell and broke...

Greybeard, you're referring to Alan Grayson.

    Can ALS affect fingers?

We have no idea. Call the doctor's office. Good luck

    Does my husband have ALS?

All those symptoms don't fit with ALS. It's possible he has more than one issue. But it doesn't sound like ALS off hand. He would be getting progressively worse if he had it, which you're not describing. So good news-- probably not. Best to continue investigating with the doctors. Good luck

    Power Wheelchair

When the time comes that he can't transfer on his own, a gait belt will help you be able to safely transfer him. There are 'how to' videos on YouTube that you can watch.
