    Bipap question

I use nose pillows. I didn't know that they could be used with a CPAP. My mouth stays closed and moist for the most part. My wife says that some mornings my lips flap a little bit. I told her that has to be the cutest start to her day. I was also going to mention checking with their ALS...

    Prime C trial

Are you having to buy the meds while participating in a clinical trial? That seems very odd to me. I'll ask Alon. I wished with him years ago in developing a phase 2 trial. COVID got in the way and I was doing other things so I became involved with other endeavors and living with my SCI & ALS...

    Wheelchair decision

You can't go either if the 2 biggest brands. Personally, I have the Quantum Edge i-Level. They put on the attendant controls for free. I really like my seat elevator. That's now an approved option for because. Our next fight is to make it a standard item. Try them both. Make sure it works in...

    New diagnosis

I'm glad you shared that you have ALS and that you haven't accepted it. I'm sorry for your diagnosis, but I've found most of the pALS who share and get out are some of the finest people I've ever met. I wouldn't trade my years with ALS for almost anything. They have been very full. The folks on...

Any gadgets to help with pulling on clothing?

My left leg is totally paralyzed and my right leg constantly gives out. Arms aren't reliable. And I self cath. With all of that I still find it easier to put on pants and insert the cath in a "standing" position. I bought a ceiling lift for 500 and I use a standing sling. Before I elevate I...

Opinions Needed - Ramp vs Platform Lift

I am totally ignorant so be gentle if what I mention is not good. I live in Arizona and we don't get snow where we live. On those home improvement shows I've seen the under for hearing elements. Is there a away to do something like that. No, don't make the ramp itself like that unless you want...

ceiling hoist vs mobile hoists and tiles vs vinyl flooring for renovations

I know better!!! I found a ceiling lift on Craigslist for $1,000. I paid $500 and it has more than paid for itself. We put it in the bathroom in line with the sink, toilet and shower. I have fallen more often in the bathroom than anywhere else. I fell this morning before church. I just lose...

    Wheelchair Advice Needed

I would also make sure you get an attendant control. It is an option. Quantum includes it free for people with an ALS diagnosis. I was with the Permobil two this weekend and forgot to ask him about that. The elevate feature is great. I get stopped at least twice a day when riding at altitude...

    Wheelchair Headrest Cover Ideas

Microfiber towels come in various sizes and are super absorbent and soft. They even have a little stretch if you put one tight on the headrest and another loosely over the top you could use Velcro, snaps strings to tie it down. The most comfortable and best for cooking is real sheepskin. It...

    Pressure ulcers. Bed sores

I think it is a great place to learn and examine new treatments. I was given desitin for the sore on my left butt cheek. It did help some. Repositioning I think did the most good, until the other cheek lost substance. I have tried every type of toilet seat cushion, but none provided much relief...

Checking in (my PALS was diagnosed about 6 weeks ago)
