Your situations sounds like my husband! NO one can tell you! You will be told over and over that this disease is different for everyone. Then, it can arrest at a stage. There are no for sure answers here except the statistics that are unclear 3 - 5 years. ALS is a monster in everyway.

My husband had a very invasive hip replacement just before the symptoms of ALS started. We talked to the doc about this at the ALS/MD Clinic. When I asked if the surgery could have triggered the ALS he said five years ago he would have said no, but more often than not he has seem this possibility!
