  • Colleen, I'm not making any promises about not getting raunchy cause fun is fun! I guess I am going to have to do some Little Women research as it is not something that I am familiar with. It's either that or I just wing it. Going to Texas for a 68 cuda? Wow! I am jealous of your holiday. I wouldn't be able to take the heat but it sounds like a great trip anyway. And it makes my mouth water just thinking of barbecue and mexican food. And you know, I don't feel one bit sorry for you! Have a great trip and have uno mas cerveca for me!

Hi Barry, try not to get tooo raunchy in the Little Women post while I'm gone! Heading to Texas early tomorrow to pick up a 68 Cuda. That's my holiday! Never been, can't wait for BBQ and Mexican. Can't find a decent Mexican restaurant around here! How about Al for a fireman? He already knows the job. Rose can be Amy!Supposed to be 103 and raining in Austin. Sorry for me yet?
    take care

And thanks for the Whiteshell link, it looks really nice. My parents and my oldest sister were all born in Thunder Bay (although it was Ft William and Port Arthur then) and they lived in Winnipeg for a time so I do have family connections to that part of Manitoba/Ontario but have never been there. Have to put it on my growing to do list.
Hi Coleen, it is easy to put a picture as your avatar. Just go to User CP and on the left side of the screen select Edit Avatar under Settings and Options. Then under Custom Avatar check Use Custom Avatar and then browse for a picture on your computer that you want to use. I have a built-in camera on my computer so I just took a picture, saved it and then selected it as my custom avatar. Any digital picture will work but you may have to reduce the image size depending on your camera resolution. You can also edit a custom signature like a phrase that you want to say with all of your posts (like my Red Green phrase or Rose's Robert Browning poem quote). BTW nice house pictures even with the crop of mud.
    Coleen,

The finches are native to Australia. I just have the red or black headed ones with the green backs, but they do have some more color combinations. I wanted a blue back one so bad (they're pretty rare), but right now the puppy is all I can handle! We did have one batch of babies a couple of years ago, very VERY loud baby birds when hungry! Anyway, if you google Lady Gouldian Finch, you can see all of the gorgeous hybrid colors. The boys sing beautifully, girls don't at all.
NO NET ACCESS!!!!!!!How do you survive? Glad you got the place. Have a good time.

Hi Colleen....yes...the Whiteshell is great...been going there for years. We were blessed to find this place we stayed at...only thing is no net access:( Hope you summer is going well! Rick
Glad to hear that you don't need the walker and wheelchair yet! It's good to have them for if you need them. Took my brother a long time to get the wheelchair but he didn't want it around before the time. The longer you can stay mobile the better just don't go around tripping and falling before you use the walker. You don't need a cast to add to your fun!Unless you like getting autographs!Am heading to Texas next weekend. Any suggestions?
I don't need the walker and wheelchair right now but the ALS rep and OT wanted me to have them before I need them. I'm hoping that I really won't have to use them for a while but ....
Anyway I am enjoying my lift chair! Have a good weekend!
Glad that you have access to those all important four letter words in a hurry! Just lose the impact if you have to type them out. Much better if you can do a one button move. Hope that you catch some fish!Yes it is great that we have the ALS society to help with all the equipment, but it's crappy that we need to have them at all! Are you needing them right now or are you planning ahead? My brother didn't want to use something until absolutely neccesary, but once he got on that scooter he was just booting it all over the place. Guess he didn't realize how much he missed moving fast.Had a huge grin on his face!Only problem he had was when his battery died when he was crossing the highway! Thankfully some wonderful people stopped their cars and helped!
Coleen, I have a bunch of talking programs that I use. Some are typing based and others are icon based and I have also put some choice four letter words in. I do use them, not often but when you need them you don't want to have to type it out. I got a visit from the equipment vendor today, he measured our house for a porch lift and delivered me a lift chair and walker. Thank goodness for the ALS society providing all this stuff but it is also depressing because last summer at this time I was climbing and hiking in the mountains. But that's life, I am going to go fishing the weekend so all is well. I hope that your son goes to university, my sister has a son in law and a stepdaughter who are lawyers and they are both doing very well (making more money than I ever did!)
Hi Rose, I know that the dog look sincere and loyal but she's really not that bright(don't tell my husband,he thinks she's brilliant) Just finished yelling at her.Call her the fun police! Every time the cts look at each other or get close she gets between them and barks. Have to shut her in another room so they can play! I can just reach out and touch her head to pat her. Couldn't get 2 cats pictures to download. So I really have 3 cats now and 1 dog.
Am doing not bad. My niece graduated this June so got teary. His and my birthdays were bad. Am not looking forward to Nov. 15.Otherwise life is a lot slower. Not driving 12 hours every second weekend now. Thanks for caring.
    Hi Coleen,

I enjoyed seeing your photo album. That kitten looks like his name should be TROUBLE ! And your dog looks so sincere and loyal. Ernie (my puppy) is a schnoodle, he's not quite 4 months, and I'm not sure how big he will end up, I think he should stand at about the knee. I'm sending you a 'friend' request, then you can view my family album and see the rest of the animal menagerie.

I hope you're doing well, I know you've still got to miss your dear brother! (hugs)
Hi Coleen, it is called the Folio Society and she can't remember how she got started with them. As a member she has to buy 4 books per year at full price and then gets discounts on the rest. And they are all hardcover so you do get a nice product for the bookshelf. I know what you mean about living in town, we have 4 acres inside the town limits so we have the best of both worlds. Town amenities but country privacy. We have one son who is going into 4th year of visual arts at University of Victoria so we have to go down and find him a place to live. He just heard from the university that he won't be able to get into residence this year. I am using a netbook computer for being on the internet and also for talking, it is good and cheap as long as I can type.
Hi Coleen, my wife gets hard cover books from Britain as a kind of book ordering club deal where you get free books when you order a certain number of books. Lots of classics and historical stuff like right now I am reading the first of a set of three large books about the English general Wellington and how he defeated Napoleon at Waterloo. Don't get me wrong, I still read some stuff like the Stephen King novels my my sister gave me for Christmas but I do like learning about what happened in the world. I had a look at your pet pics, they look like a nice bunch. Are you in the country or in town? I just looked up where Melville is and remembered that a guy I worked with years ago moved home to Saltcoats to take over his grandfathers farm. I'm glad your elbow is better, I am as good as I can be, just don't ask me to sing cause you'll be disappointed.
