    leg weakness

Glenna My ALS began in my right hand, also. I stopped hiking about 8 month after the onset, and at first I thought it was due to my legs getting weaker, but it really was my breathing getting weaker. I can still walk a little bit, and I am now starting to get foot drop in my right foot. John

    Coughing after drinking or eating

Dani I am doing OK, I have recently started using the computer again. When I got out of the hospital, my arms did not work very well, but I am now using a mouse with my feet. I have tried many eye-gaze systems, but they don't seem to work with my glasses. Hopefully, something will turn up...

    Coughing after drinking or eating

Erica That used to happen a lot to me. It turned out that it was going in to my lungs, and I ended up getting trached a few months later. John

mum's going to hv PEG-tube ,anybody experience with PEG?

Linda I got my PEG tube installed on Tuesday. They had planned to keep me in hospital for one day, but something went wrong and I ended up having aspiration pneumonia and I spent 4 days in the hospital. But it is all cleared up now. I can still eat a bit of solid food, and I drink...

How long to live after diagnosis?

I think I have been to one of those neighborhoods in Vancouver. We were riding on a trolley that stopped at all of the tourist stops and we decided to walk from Chinatown to the next stop. Next thing we were surrounded by junkies waiting for the methadone clinic to open! I have been to...

    Hi-ho Pokey! Away!

Rose Yes the Sunbeam was from Britain. My first car was a '66 M.G. Midget. It was cute and fun, but not very well built. It was so small I could tap my cigarette ash out the right window as I drove.

    does weather affect als

Marjorie What do you do about the lack of humidity? We don't have the problem with the cold weather in Phoenix, but the air is very dry. I wonder if more humidity would help my breathing.

    BethU, PEG news?

BethU I'm glad to hear that the tube is going well. In a week or so, I have an appointment with a Gastro Dr. and I expect that I will be getting a PEG soon thereafter. I have been losing so much weight that I am really hoping that the tube will increase my energy level. And the hydration...

    Need Recommendations of Electric Razor

I use a rechargeable Norelco triple head, and it works fine, but I find I have a hard time pressing the button to turn it off and on. If possible, try to test this before purchasing.

    Your expertise needed-THX

Jules I haven't really had any cramping, yet. I'm not sure when it tends to occur for other people with ALS; maybe this is just something i've been lucky with. My main problems are muscles (mostly in my arms and hands) that don't work. John

    Your expertise needed-THX

Jules I am not an expert, but I understanf that the twitching can be caused by anxiety. When I first noticed mine I assumed it was caused by stress. Clearly, you don't have ALS, and you have done the due diligence and checked it out. So, I would stop worrying about it unless some other...
