  • John, what goes into a "Ganaraskan"? Or, is it an old breed from a different country? I'm totally unfamiliar with it. I have to admit, I am a little jealous of you all having dogs. Until two years ago, when our last dog (a sixteen year old) had to be put down, I'd been without a dog for only four years of my life, and Phil never. A friend brings her 6 pound (quiet) Chihuahua here and puts him on my lap, but even that weight is too much for more than a short time. No muscle left for padding. It's wonderful that Chewie can go to work with you as your therapy dog. He is so cute. "Beats anti-depression medicine paws down" is great. Did you need to train him, or did he come to you already trained?
John, your progression amazes me. I'm really glad for you that you can still eat and speak when Bulbar was your first symptom. You're "the example" for those who feel hopeless with a bulbar diagnosis. I'm so glad you're able to go to work and drive the van. Chewie is blessed to get two mile runs!
John, I just realized how long you've been diagnosed. How are you doing with its "progression"? Do you still get out and about on your own, or are you in a power chair pulled by Chewie?
    Thanks John
I am yet again over feeling sorry for myself. Its just that all this stuff never seems to end. I go from one disaster to another. I just want a few months break. This cancer came up in just 4 weeks! I really feel that I cannot cope with much more. The next thing that happens I will go bush!!!!!
Glad to hear your ok. Mick's not to bad hes quite concerned about his hands at the mo they seem to be giving him more trouble and the muscles are wasting fast, we have had our CRV adapted for him to drive with his hands about 12months ago and he will be devasted when he loses that independance so hopefully it will not take his hands just yet not until he has got his head round it anyway, But hey lifes good apart from the little worries here and there. Please keep intouch and take care xx
    Hey John,

I've missed seeing you post much. Everything OK? Pat Chewie for me. :)
Hi John! Looks like you like to paddle? Me too! I have a couple yaks, and float a lot of rivers here in Ga. I can't do real float trips anymore, unless they are short with a fair amount of current. I really miss it. Hope you are doing well. God bless...Phil
hi john just seen your name on the forum .i see you were dx in 2000 how has it affected you and how are you doing .drop me a line and tell me a little about yourself thanks jeff hope to hear from ya
Hi John, thank you so much for your sympathy. I really appreciate your kind words. Hope all is well with you and the adorable Chewie. Big hugs from Montreal. xo
Hi John, how are you and Chewey doing? Are you still in Tucson or are you headed back to Newfoundland yet? I hope all is well with you, I'm still trying to get all the 2009 business and personal books done so am keeping more busy than I would like but otherwise OK.
John, yeah those chollas are nasty, they make regular cactus look positively cuddley! Bob carries pliers and a comb and a good thing cause he was the medic when Beth got stuck, I was the official photographer. Haven't seen any spiders, scorpions or snakes yet, too cold I think but Beth and Bob saw some border runners being rounded up this morning. We are going to Kitt Peak on Friday for the day but that is about as far as I want to go, I am happy just sitting in the sun and I guess I had better find my shorts (gotta keep the women happy!)
