  • Is Boxing Day the 26th? If so, that's almost here! And I will pray for a good trip without moose...which make deer accidents sound like minor problems. You do have a lot going on...but some fun and certainly adventure. You make good time, if you do all of that distance in 7-8 days.
Oh, John--I'm sorry about your hand and arm loss. Does it affect your job at all, or is that still going along fine (I hope!)? Have a great time with your girlfriend--hope she can stay there with you and Chewie, the clean dog. He is such a cutie.

Thanks for the nice note. It's always good to hear from you.

    Ann
Concerning the "draconian measures" and my chair, John, I had to tell you--as I suspected, there is another tipsy sensor in the chair. Phil is hunting it down...search and destroy mission. After he slays it, the ban will be lifted. I will once again be able to elevate. Sadly, my need to elevate is ending anyway, as my arms no longer reach very far--Of course, I'm very grateful to have the recline and tilt features, which will always be used.

My best to you, Chewy and your girlfriend!
John, your local job market may bring your daughter...I do hope so. Yes, your summer beats ours, hands down. My older brother (an electrical engineer) has been out of work for two years--steel industry, in Ohio. He doesn't want to leave his house, but does need to find some kind of job. It's hard, since he's 59. Another brother is concerned about losing contracts, also an ee. He's basically waiting day to day, wondering if more work will come after this project ends. It's wonderful that your area is busy. In having a "real" illness, it's obviously great when children can find work not too far from family. We don't have children... but the friends are super. So is our neighbor. Hope your day is a good one, John.
Your climate sounds wonderful. I hope one day soon your daughter and her family will decide they miss Newfoundland, John... and the appropriate jobs will be available. Where we are, there's a "university" (barely--just made the switch from college), a hospital, and not too far away, a NASA facility. Not a whole lot in terms of job market, especially right now. Oh, yes, mustn't forget commercial chickens. That is huge here. Our babies have no idea such concentration camps exist.
Hi John, Can I ask are you taking in drugs and vitamins? Are you on a good diet. I am very confused about whether to live life to the fullest e.g. eat, drink and be merry or eat totally healthily, stay away from all toxins which seems impossible to do and don't touch alcohol. I was dnx 2008 and it is mainly in my legs.
Thanks for filling me in, John. I had NO idea it was that bad for all the area other than your little oasis, which, thank God, didn't suffer from power interruption. The magnitude of damage is amazing--I'm glad that help is continuing to bring reconstruction. Thanks for letting me know. It's very good that you and yours are safe, and were the whole time... I assume they all were, anyway. I'll pray for those who were badly affected.
John, did you get all power back and running after Igor? Thanks for your comments on pictures. Funny thing about snow is that it had been ages since our last snowy winter before last year. The first snow was greeted with joy, the trails and driveways plowed. The second (soon after the first) with less joy, as the piles grew alongside the ploughed drives and trails. The third grimly attacked using a bucket on the tractor to move the piles for more snow... and there went the desire of a lifetime to move to the snowy northland. I can understand why you don't miss it. And, you're right, I've benefited an awful lot from Phil's talents. He's seriously planning boat designs now, but has always been planning or building something.
    Hi Handsome :)

Thanks for the message. I was away, just now trying to catch up, I'll write again soon. Glad to see you around more again.
John, that was good to read. I hope it's all over for Newfoundland and was easy on the area. Ours was next to nothing. Not even downed tree limbs to clear. Just a little rain and light breeze. Today is gorgeous.
John, do you expect Earl to bring wind and rain to Newfoundland? Nova Scotia and PEI keep getting mentioned, making me wonder.
Hi John- never tried sea kayaking in an enclosed boat, although I would have liked to- don't know how close to a whale I'd want to get...We do have a sit on top ocean kayak for playing in the surf and Iwas lucky enough to get in among some dolphins a few years back - we'll have to keep finding ways to get out onthe water. Take care
    Tom
hi John- like your avatar-like to paddle also, or did. Had a friend take me out in a two man in the Adirondacks last weekend
LOL... I read the first page and learned about Chewy in your post. I'd never begun reading from the beginning. Only 15 pounds! He looked bigger to me in the picture! I'll go back now and re-read it, it's such a great story.
