Hello, my name is Joey and my mom has ALS. Shes had it for four years and it has been the hardest four years of my life. Our family was so tight, that when my mom was diagnosed, my dad took care of her all the time, and my brother and I would be with our friends and when we got home we would talk about our feelings and how all this effected us. But this school year he went off to college and I lost my best friend and support system. since he left my dad and I have been taking care of my mom, all the other time its me by myself and my dad taking care of my mom. I can say these are sad and lonely days and I wish I could escape these feelings, but my moms needs are keeping me here because family comes first.
