  • Thanks Jim for the link to the gorgeous pic! The dog doesn't look too bad either!..just as cute at nine as she was as a baby.
Jim I can totally read between the lines at the love you and Darcey share.
I hope and pray Wayne and I will be like that forever.
Even though my eye doesn't shut properly anymore, and my smile is only on one side of my face...he still calls me beautiful. I think we are in with a chance at being happy for a long time yet...I knew the day I met him I wanted to marry him...so all good from my point of view too!
Give my love to Darcey and little Elsie
    God bless, Janelle x
Jim, I haven't seen much from you lately. How are things going with Darcey? How are you doing? You're on my mind tonight.
Jim, Thanks so much for the info on the sling like no other. I've copied the info and will get one. I'm having trouble understanding how to navigate this site so hope you get this. My wife and I seem to be going down the same path as you folks.
Glad everything is ok. I can relate to feeling perpetually behind. Unfortunately, I can't claim to have ever really had my act together - I just have a better excuse now.

Hope you guys have a great trip and that you enjoy the concert.
    Hi Jim,
How did Darcy do with her peg surgery? I hope well. It was a very brave decision on her part. We are going next weekend the 10th to go vist my dad in Dallas for a quick visiit. He is supposed to be getting his wheelchair van anyday now. Hopefully, he will have it when we get there. My daughter is a junior in high school and this Saturday is the first time she is going to a formal dance. She's going with a group of girls. I'm pretty excited about it. But, not necessarily the cost of everything. lol Take care, Kim
    Hi Jim,
I saw your post in which your wife has decided to get the peg. I feel that is a very wise choice on her part. Glad is was a decision she made for herself though with the information you provided. Many people still live quality lifes with one. I will keep her in my prayers. Let us know how it goes. Kim
    Hi Jim,
They think dad will be getting his van pretty soon. We hope anyway. He is also getting some type of eye gaze thing pretty soon as well so he can answer his phone and control his tv with just a certain look. The VA and ALS clinics that he goes to in Dallas have been great about getting him stuff that he needs. He usually doesn't even have to ask them. Dad just turned 80 on the 11th. He thought it was really funny because I guy accidently sent him a card wishing him Happy 90th. He got over a hundred cards and letters so he was pleased and more have been coming in. We are hoping to make a quick weekend visit to see him the weekend of October 11th. The kids have a 4 day weekend off from school then. They are at the age where we can't really pull them out of school anymore because they get too far behind otherwise. The twins are Juniors in high school and our youngest son is in 5th grade. Take care, Kim
    Hi Jim,
How are things going for you? I'm doing ok. I have been having physical therapy on my left arm and shoulder. It started hurting the first of June. I was afraid at first that I was getting ready to have a heartattack because the pain radiated clear down my arm. But, it turns out I have tendonitis of the rotator cuff and a frozen shoulder. Therapy has been helping alot. I have much more empathy now for people who have any time of muscle type issues now then I ever had before. My situation is nothing compared to what alot of people have to endure and I was in tears at times when the pain first started. My dad is doing pretty good and will turn 80 on Sept 11th. He is hopefully going to get a van through the VA soon. Just waiting fo more paperwork to go through. Take care, Kim
    Hi Jim,
Just dropped by to say Hi! I took the ice bucket challenge yesterday. It was so hot hear that the ice melted by the time I got done talking. Lol. Take care, Kim
    Hi Jim,
How are things going for you? I can't believe it's time to register my kids for school tomorrow. I have twins a boy/girl who will be juniors in high school and then our youngest son is entering 5th grade. This summer has went way too fast. My dad is doing pretty well. We are hoping he gets a van through the VA soon. But, sometimes unfortunately it takes awhile. Take care, Kim
    Hi Jim,
I admire your wonderful dedication to taking care of your wife. My dad will turn 80 in September and has ALS. It was two years this past May since his diagnosis. He is living in Dallas right now because we couldn't find adequate care for him in our small town in Illinois. He lives in a assistant living facility about 5 minutes from my brother's home. It's a very plush one but terribly expensive. Luckily, he was drafted and is a veteran and they have helped out financially. Wish everyone would get the same care. You are in my prayers. Kim
I agree, Paulette... Darcey seems to be about a half step behind Tim's progression. Before the BiPAP, she was falling asleep unexpectedly during the day. She'd even fall asleep while in conversation with me. On our first visit with the neurologist at Johns Hopkins, he immediately attended to her comments related to breathing difficulties. He also attributed her serious weight loss to CO2 buildup and working so hard to breath. Her weight has leveled since the BiPAP and she's now awake most days. I'm beginning to notice her chest heaving more during the day as she sits in her PWC. And coughing spells are becoming more frequent. I try to help by pushing sharply on her lower diaphragm as she begins her cough. I think, however, that I need to begin to looking at machine assistance.

Thanks for taking a moment to share what has worked for Tim. It is extremely helpful. Know that I'm sending good thoughts to the two of you...

    Jim
