    Can someone cause ALS?

My mother agrees... My mother believes my husband made me suscepible to something--she was shocked at ALS diagnosed. Anyway she believes his treatment of me caused thid. I'm sure that's a mother's grief, however, I also believe my ability to handle the emotional & mental stress may be a factor.

Me dental In July 2006 I had 3 upper LEFT side teeth extracted with tissue implants to prepare for dental implants. After my 4 day recovery, my speech was a bit slurred (thought it was from missing teeth). Oct. 2006 I noticed weakness in 3 of my LEFT fingers. Speech still slurred Nov...

    Where am I?

My hands don't work well, speech just about gone & I walk like Frankenstein. My balance isn't so good, I have to be careful of swallowing certain foods and I have muscle weakness? Somedays, when the stress of family and spousal problems is too much, I ask God "why not take me now, please?" I...

Can it really be anything else other than ALS?

Hi! Mama; I feel your worries and fears. As you know, I have 2 precious ones too.My diagnosed was very quick. In fact, I made the appt to see a neuro, not my AP. I thought my speech was from an inplant procedure I was in the middle of. And when I mentioned to my AP that my finger wouldn't...

    It's ALS

Ruled out MG They said the tests they ran were ruling other things out. I did not have a spinal tap or muscle biopsy. Had, 24 hr urine, losts of blood, EMG, NC, & MRA. I guess I was "easy". I don't get how I was diagnosed so quickly & others take months & years?

    Info for Columbia

On Wednesday, 4/12/07, I will be going to Columbia University to see a specialist on a second opinion. My fear is 1) he will only look at tests I've had done and give a diagnosed., and 2) he won't consider other possibilities. Here is where I'm at now... slowed speech, left hand finger-tip...

    Al

Al, Thank You! Al, I read your follow-up post to mine on another thread; I sincerely thank you for respecting my opinion, as I do yours. Clearly you are a rock and a big-hearted person. I have accepted the clinical outcome of ALS, but, I'm sorry....I still believe in miracles! I continue to...

    Newbie Diagnosis

Point Taken Loud & Clear I'm not an idiot; I did not miss the point. Anyone who walks into a Neuro office to get tested for something knows already what is at stake. When a diagnosed is ALS, everyone knows what that means. My POINT, is why welcome everyone with the "there is NO CURE!"...

    Newbie Diagnosis

Meg, You're right, you have been going through this longer than me. I will agree to disagree with some of what you said. We're just different. You see, I have a 5 year-old little girl who is all light and love, I have a 6-year old little girl whom I adopted from my husband's oldest daughter...
