  • Hey Jeff. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. My dad is Air Force retired after 23 years and lives in Raleigh. He was diagnosed with a second opinion this past April , though his original diagnosis was in October of 2010.

    Service Disabled Veterans’ Insurance (S-DVI)

    The VA will help with the purchase of a wheelchair equipped van. They will pay
    $11,000 toward the chassis and ALL of the adaptations. The $11,000 is a one time only
    compensation. They will adapt a van every two years.

    I am so sorry about your diagnosis. The VA will take care of you and your wife (and any children you might still be raising). Here are a few things I put together when we were going through the process. I cannot stress enough how important it is to meet with a PVA service representative next week. Your benefits will begin the day you file. Because I'm giving you alot of information, I'm going to have to break it up into several messages. I know it seems overwhelming, but it will get better.
