My husband died from ALS and now I’m afraid I have it

Hi everyone. I went for my EMG and thank God - it was normal. One question though - my fasciculations are mainly in my calves (constant). I did notice my right calf is smaller than my left and seems to have an indentation. However my main weakness is in my right arm and hand, so the doctor only...

My husband died from ALS and now I’m afraid I have it

Hi again. I’m trying so hard not to panic but I’m panicking in a major way. It’s all I can focus on and I have a week left until my appointment. I feel like I’m always on the verge of a panic attack. My twitches have increased to the point that they are constant. Mostly in my right calf (that...

My husband died from ALS and now I’m afraid I have it

Thank you Kevin. It helps to think of how crazy the odds are. I just really don’t want to be that person written about in the medical journals.

It’s all mainly on my right side though. From shoulder down to leg

My husband died from ALS and now I’m afraid I have it

Well...I’m now terrified. Yesterday I started getting fasciculations. Started in my calf on my weak side. I looked, and that calf is considerably smaller than my other one. Now I’m getting twitches in that weakened arm as well, and my weak shoulder. Please tell me that it’s possible my brain is...

My husband died from ALS and now I’m afraid I have it

Hi. I was on here in 2016/2017 asking for advice about my husband’s symptoms. It turns out he did have ALS. He passed away June 2018. He was 47. I know WAY more about this disease than I ever wanted to. I’m so sorry for everything you’re all dealing with. I completely understand. But now, I’m...

Hi, Sorry I stopped checking this site as it was too emotionally difficult for me. Did you find out what was wrong? You're very young, and although it's not unheard of I would think it's very improbable.

    Mortgage Insurance Question

Hi. My husband was just diagnosed in January. We are still trying to figure out all the benefits available to us and how to navigate through everything. We have applied for the adaptive housing grant and we are in the process of being approved for that. We were told that once we're approved...

    question about spouse's income

Will spouse's income affect the amount of VA disability benefits someone is eligible for?

No I do not have ALS. I have a question about onset

I do agree that the sticky is misleading. My husband didn't just wake up one day unable to do something he could before. There's been progressive weakness over months. It's getting more and more difficult to do things...he's feeling weaker and weaker. And yes, it's a "feeling" with him, so that...

    Very worried about my husband

Update - We have been given an official diagnosis of ALS. We aren't giving up hope yet though and are going for a third opinion soon. I'm researching like crazy to try to find ANY clues that it's something else. I know it's a long shot. Just not ready to give up.
