  • Thanks for stooping by on my page. Mum is so much more herself today. I am so happy! Much more energy now I can stop worrying for a bit. I just had this bad feeling that something was up when she went to hospice. Now I know she was in the right spot at the right time. Something was indeed up, and they were best placed to sort it. Looking forward to having her home and feeling like I can enjoy a little time off between now and then too.
    Helen,
I did just have the feeding tube,I am feeling lots better, thank God.We would camp in Truro and go to Herring Cove,Race Point, and Head of the Meadow. The kids and my bride loved it.I am now renting my house in NH to a couple, the husband was dx with ALS Jan 2011.I bought a house 10 miles inland from Myrtle Beach,Conway SC.I do not miss NH winters, like -24 last Jan ect.I love it down here, thanks for reply.---------------------Hugs Ken
Thanks Ken, good to hear from you! I understand that you just had some surgery, hope you're feeling stronger really soon.

Which beach is your favorite on Cape Cod? One of my brothers lives in West Barnstable, in a really funky little Cape... has about 7 different rooflines in that house. Are you still in NH? (Or as I always say, New Hampster?)
    Hi Helen,

Hi Ann, I have to keep checking who I sent what to, who I actually friended, etc. No worries about this stuff!
Oh, Helen, so silly I am. I tried sending you a friend request and of course, we're already friends. Well, I'm one of your flakier friends. I love wavy windows... our windows are also wood framed...upkeep required, but we like the windows.
Hi Helen, I am so much more comfortable, and will have my first visit tomorrow from the Hospice aide. She'll shower me, get me something easy to eat, and then (or in some order) get me back into the chair or in bed. This business with hospice is totally in order to get help while I'm doing pretty well--still able to talk, use my typing fingers... My doc, the pulmonary one, said in February he thought I'd be around more than 6 months, while Phil agreed with him and I was supposedly talking with the PT. I know Phil didn't want to think 6 mos. or less is a possibility, but was firm on getting started. It always begins with chaos of a sort...and I wanted that done while I can still sit up and talk.

Your offer of Reiki is something I know nothing about, but I do have strong faith in the Lord, with lots of peace. I love the tea party thread, too, Helen. It's very like getting together in a little outside market, sitting under an umbrella and shooting the breeze.
hi helen i am fine how are you .. i live in halifax , ma near the cape what about you
Hi and Good morning to you Helen.
How are you this fine day? Im all full of cheer- does it make you want to throw up?
    Hahaha.
    Hope your day is wonderful.
Hi Helen~ thank you so much for the early birthday wishes!
I didnt realize that there was a count on the number of visits on our profile pages- thats sort of crazy. bet its the same 4 people looking over and over and over and.....
Hi Helen -- I see Dr Merit Cudkowicz at MGH and there are several other ALS neuros at the clinic there. I like the clinic a lot.
I'm in Belgrade, ME, (about an hr N of Portland) and get to Mass every few months. Love the idea of getting together-- we could talk gardening! This year I'll be training my neighbors to take over my farmers' market & CSA business. So hard to give that up!

Helen, thank you. I forgot to hit the "view conversation" phrase so I can play intelligent. My symptoms began when I was 51, in my left foot (dropfoot) in late '04. I wasn't diagnosed until summer of '07. Yes, it sounds like you are "one of us". I hope you get some new clients and business is good. My dad is 85, and was visiting over the weekend. For his sake, I hope he leaves this world first. He lost my mother on Thanksgiving of '09. We've always been very close. He can still remember better than I unless it's totally unimportant. Have a good night. And I expect you still will be able to work for a good length of time. Just tweak how you do things.

    Hello Helen,

Let me begin by saying that I am not an expert on this. All I know is my own list of "stuff" and what I've learned here, especially by the real experts on the "Do I Have" forum. But, this I can say: you need to find out if you have ever had "brisk reflexes" as a symptom. That would provide the Upper Motor Neuron problem. As for the toes and vascular problems, your doc is doing the safe thing. I had no problems when I had vascular testing, even though my feet and lower legs were both ice cold, and my feet both beet red. So, yes, this would seem normal in looking at your own feet and the testing results.
