It's been several years since I last logged into this forum. I was an emotional mess then. Months of repeated reassurance from incredibly patient folks on this forum, friends, family and many doctors helped me navigate the stress and anxiety. While my physical symptoms were very real, so was the...

Hi Hunter: I saw your recent Emory post and am glad to hear things have not worsened. My Cleveland Clinic EMG in June was a painful one. I' worried about the tongue test, but it was the least invasive. A fellowship doctor did the sticking, which may explain why I was so sore afterward...

Hi Hunter: Sorry to hear you're stumbling over words. I know with bulbar onset, it's usually the consonants that are the most troublesome. Can you say "K" and "gah" sounds well? My ALS neuro has me say things like "puhtahkah-puhtahkah-puhtahkah" , "kah-kah-kah" and "tuh-tuh-tuh-tuh." I'm...

Hi Hunter: Thanks. I know I've gotten a lot of ribbing from the ALS folks right now because it all looks like it's purely anxiety-driven. I hope they are all correct. There was a person on the BFS forum I was following who have remarkably similar symptoms and EMG results to mine. Well...

Hi 13yearsago: Thanks for your story and the encouragement. I'm hoping I'm back here in a few months to report my diagnosis of bulbar-onset ALS, but I have a really bad feeling about it. We know our bodies and we know when something is very wrong. I just hope that I'm wrong about which...

    ALSA Stories and First Symptoms

Hi Nikki: I spoke with my neuro and I was able to get a copy of the third right-side EMG. If you'll recall, the previous two EMGs showed large MUPs and increased amp and duration in the forearm and the thenar muscle, but no fibs, positive waves, insertional activity or fasciculations. The...

    ALSA Stories and First Symptoms

Hi Clearwater: The first two images were from the actual hard copies I'd received. I scanned them in and uploaded them. The third one, as I said, was snapped from the computer screen. That's the latest EMG. They had not closed the screen, it was still up. I'm sorry if you feel I'm not...

    ALSA Stories and First Symptoms

Hi Clearwater: The EMG doc told me I was set to go and to get dressed, and left the room. The computer screen was still on and the document was open. It just took a quick snap from a smartphone to get the image on the screen.

    ALSA Stories and First Symptoms

Hi Clearwater: Hoping to hear from them soon on the conclusion/summary. What you're seeing is a screenshot snapped off the EMG computer five minutes after it was completed.

    ALSA Stories and First Symptoms

Dusty: I appreciate your expertise. Is there any logical explanation for why my first two EMGs would show nothing wrong with my right leg, but a month a later, my third EMG shows irregularities? Is there also some reason why the twitching, which can be seen and felt by me and others would not...

Hi Gosi: Sorry, I'm not a doctor and they people on this forum who definitively have ALS may be of better help. But I know that if your report shows no evidence of anterior horn damage and there are disc issues then that points away from ALS and that's a good sign. Hope that helps.

    ALSA Stories and First Symptoms

Hi Nikki: Hopefully I see him soon, because the discrepancies in the EMGs have me concerned for the bulbar form of ALS. This is because I understand they don't show up on EMGs until later in the disease, but often manifest with swallowing, breathing and speech issues first. I've be having...

Hi Gosi: Have you made an appt. with a neuro? I've been lucky so far to have gotten in as early as I have. Best of luck.

    ALSA Stories and First Symptoms

Clearwater, I'm sorry you feel I would lie about what's going on. I've been completely forthright about everything in my posts from the beginning. What do you need from me, the actual screenshots of the three EMG reports? If so, I'm going to paste the three links in this message. Hopefully...
