    Power wheelchair- head control

Hi, Anyone have any experience with PWC head control? I'm doing a home trial and finding it very difficult to line up with doorways. Any tips or suggestions?

    Spinal Tap

Don't know if it's standard procedure during the diagnosing phase to eliminate other diseases. I had it done after multiple blood tests, 2 MRIs and nerve conduction tests. Every test was negative. A 3rd MRI showed "abnormal signals". An EMG confirmed ALS. Good luck.

    Cancer and ALS

I had breast cancer at age 41 in 2002 with 6 mths of chemo and a mastectomy. Had another preventative mastectomy in 2012 due to precancerous lesions. I can't prove it but I think the chemo triggered the ALS. I don't think it's just a case of bad luck. I believe we are born with 'mutant...

Hello fellow PALS, I need some advice based on your experience. I am using a walker at home with great difficulty and never without a spotter. I use a manual wheelchair when I go out and get pushed as arms/hands too weak to self-propell. Getting in/out of SUV is an ordeal. I am thinking if...

    Personal Project on ALS

What a wonderful idea. Hope people in the forum participate. ALS awareness is lacking and photographs of ALS families will speak volumes. I live in Ontario, Canada otherwise I would participate. Good luck. Looking forward to seeing your final product.

Hi canmark, I have Dr. Zinman as well. So sorry about your aunt. I haven't been to the support group at sunnybrook though Myrna recommends it. I am west of Toronto so it is quite a hike to get to Sunnybrook. There is a group in Kitchener which I am contemplating. I get very emotional when...

Yes, I am in contact with a local Als chapter. I have received equipment from them. The bidet however is not something they have/loan due to sanitary concerns. I am currently looking to them for a lift chair. Hope they have one as it is increasingly more uncomfortable sitting on the couch...
