  • Hi, Dusty, it's a longstanding issue that evidently I still can't send PMs. So I won't respond to your msg here but if you send me your e-m, I will. lmgelb [at] gmail
Apparently he joined, posted the same text to a heap of us, then into a DIHALS thread, and as soon as Nikki was deleting them he was posting them again ... All in the blink of an eye, I missed most of it too! But I responded to his visitor message and so she saw that and alerted me.

You always have such a great way of responding to the DIHALS, so any time you get to them early please do! But just go back and read your message to me and have a hearty laugh, I really needed that laugh today so thanks for the 'c' word... I often wonder how you are doing mate, you give so much but you never seem to ask for support. Tillie
Hey just want to know some info about EMG. I had a Clean EMG and Nerve test last night. It was done on my 2 legs and right arm.

I am worried as to whether i should have also received in on my left arm, does that make any different if you have received it on 2 legs and one arm?

also would something like Bulbar onset show up on EMG or nerve test?

I feel like there is a lump in my throat, i have difficulty swallowing. My mouth is really dry

Does clean EMG like i got mean i shouldn't worry about ALS?
Dusty - just picked up emg report. Left triceps, FDI and APB revealed some chronic reinnervation changes. I got a 1+ in AMP, DUR and PPP in the FDI, APB, triceps and Ext Dig Comm. The ext dig comm has an N at amplitude and triceps have reduced recruitment pattern. There was no spontaneous activity in terms of fibs, psw, fasc and HF. Any wisdom you can lend would be so awesome
So the emg conclusion was an abnormal study consistent with a c7c8 chronic radicuopathy. They didn't find anything active in my c6 area, by my atrophied thumb, so an mri of my brachial complex is the next step and still waiting in lumbar puncture results. The neuro said the report stated that there is absolutely no electrophysiologol evidence of motor neuron disease. Seems like everything is structurally related.
Thanks for the reply. My job does involve some falls but I guess I never thought it could have such a delayed effect. Awaiting the emg as I have similar symptoms beginning on my right side.
Hey Dusty - I know I have been a bother to a lot of people on here but I guess I am just failing to understand the meaning of some EMG things. 2 months ago I had a normal EMG and three days ago I had one that showed chronic denervation. Is this a sign of worry? Doctor is on vacation I dont know where to go...
Merry Christmas! Hope it's a good day for you. I'll be at work at the switchboard at our local hospital. I work noon-6pm and then I return at midnight for another shift. Fun! Fun! Take care, Kim
Hey Dusty - I know you are super knowledgable about this disease and going through it so i won't waster your time...well i might. I posted a picture of my hand on my profile as of today. The thumb muscle near the base looks atrophied but my EMG came back "normal" with exception of fasics in my biceps that were determined benign. I get a dull ache and occasional twitch. Any suggestion as to where I should go next now that it is worse? I was diagnosed with c-spine stenosis but the vertebrae affected doesn't deal with my thumb. any response would be great but i totally understand if you'd rather not.

Just read your sticky. Nicely done. I look back at my first posts and think what a schmuck I was. Take care

Hey there. I've heard you mentioning on a couple of forum entries that ALS is a disease of widespread, chronic denervation? Does that mean that atrophy and weakness would start in all places at once? Thanks and sorry for the stupid question.
Hey, Dusty. I'm really sorry. You're right. I am being negative. Fear has consumed my life. I so badly want to be positive, but my neuro won't tell me anything else it can be. I've asked and she just says, "let's wait and see." Doesn't do much for my psychological state at this point.
