  • My sister starting showing muscle weakness in about a year. She had some prev.issues so we weren't sure if these were new symptoms, or side effects. Eventually after a few visits from a cpl different hospitals they settled on the ALS diagnosis. She has 3 young children and lives with my mother. After the care for all of them became to great my husband and our children moved in with her as well and since then I have become the primary care giver. Her FVC is in the low 30's, an at our last appointment we discussed putting in a feeding tube.We want to make sure that this is done before she is no longer able to be put under because of her compromised diaphragm. Today she told me she wanted another opinion regarding her diagnosis.I couldn't believe what I was hearing, yet again. How can we be here still?I though we were past this point? She asked for my opinion, and I answered her as honestly and objectively as I could. She did not like my response, and was hurtful in her response.Feeling lost
