Slight speech slurring? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi all, I apologize for reviving a thread that is a few weeks old, but being a hypochondriac that used to search this forum obsessively, I know that it can help others like me to have some sort of conclusion to other people's problems. I saw my neurologist about three weeks ago in regards to...

Dont wanna burst any bubbles but there were a few posts here, Clean Emg then dirty..

Silverlining, I'm not quite sure how you think this will help "clear a few worries" since this post basically amounts to "the doctor might be wrong you STILL could have ALS." I'm also not quite sure why you write "SHE ALSO CLAIMS TO HAVE "WEAKNESS"?" after she explicitly states that there is...

Hi Cate, I've been much better actually. I went to see my neurologist to have my anti-seizure medication dosage changed and I talked to him about my voice issues. He actually gave me a brief but thorough physical and had a look at my tongue and said everything looked fine except for a few...

    does this sound like als?

TMJ (Temporomandibular joint) problems can cause tongue fatigue. I've had problems since I was a teenager where anything that requires extensive tongue movement causes my tongue to fatigue. While for me chewing is fine, certain other activities are unbelievably tiring.

Thanks a lot for responding everyone. My girlfriend and I are actually planning on moving to another state as soon as I graduate from college (2 months!) so that is certainly adding to my anxiety as well. My girl chasing days are over at least for a long while, but I certainly have fond...

Slight speech slurring? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi guys, I'm really sorry to come back with another question but after thinking I was dealing with my problem, it came back a little. The reason is occasionally lately when I breath my breath feels shaky. I don't really know how else to explain it, but it almost feels like I just finished...

    Very Worried

From what I understand, bilateral symptoms are quite unusual in early ALS. Usually it starts in a single limb. Could you possibly have a vitamin b1 (thiamine) deficiency? Beriberi can have somewhat similar effects, though I'm not sure if this would account for everything. I had it once...

    Very Worried

I've been having the same issues (anxiety over a possible diagnosis) as you. Here are my two cents: If the doctor said that there was nothing to worry about then there probably isn't. Widespread twitching is relatively common. If you had some sort of weakness before the twitching began, this...

Slight speech slurring? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you all for your replies I appreciate it a lot. I was thinking about getting a second opinion but I would have to pay a lot to see another neurologist and I can't quite afford that with tuition. I understand it's almost guaranteed to be anxiety (I've always been a bit of an anxious...

Slight speech slurring? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi everyone, I'm a 22 year old and I've been trying to avoid doing this for as long as possible because I feel terrible that I'm just worrying about having this while people on this forum actually do have it. It makes me feel insensitive and I really do apologize. Unfortunately, lately the...
