    Thank You Caregivers

The article is no longer available to be viewed. Anyone remember any key words I could search their archives for to try and find it?

    My Dad...

That's probably lidocaine patches you're referring to.

Sara, prayers, hug and kisses to you. Try to take some time as soon as you can to recoup yourself to a level so you stay well.

    Can't use bipap?

My first thought is that perhaps it's anxiety that is creating some of his issues with the bi-pap. Is Ativan an option to help him become used to it, enough that he'll see the benefits of using it?

    My PALS passed last night

Thanks for your kind words. I took a nap before I go in to work tonight and I dreamt of her of course. She told me dying isn't bad at all; she was quite excited about all of it. There's more that I don't remember right now. Is that a message for us all or what?

    My PALS passed last night

I just came back from the church services. Oh, what to say. The amount of people who came was tremendous. She had touched so many lives through the years. Heaven is now a better place because she's there now.

    My PALS passed last night

Jeanne, Barbie and Donna, thank you for the kind words. If I can give someone strength and /or information to keep helping their PALS, I know in my heart that my PALS (also a Diane) will be smiling at all of us. She had told me that if she could survive this, she would dedicate herself to...

what do you do for a PALS's birthday?

    * Foot creams AND foot rubs * Warm, but light weight, fleece blankets * Warm comfortable socks * A Bed Buddy for stiff sore necks(http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?ATID=100111&id=prod16156) (I'm not promoting Wal-Greens - this is the first link from a Yahoo search) * A very soft memory...

    My PALS passed last night

I'm more than happy to help anyone try to prepare for the end. I hope I do not upset anyone by posting some of the things here I have typed. In Diane's (my PALS) case, over the last 2 weeks, she became more irritable. I could notice such a change in her mental status; her always cheerful self...

    My PALS passed last night

My patient passed away last night, apparently in her sleep. I was not with her. It appears to have been painless and quiet. I was so afraid her mucas would "choke" her. It's a blessing, but Oh how I'm going to miss that very very special lady. If anyother caregivers need support or answers...

Questions from a CNA - Bedding for ALS Patients (sores developing)

Thanks Al, I'm sure these will help.

    My Dad...

My ALS patient is also having excess saliva and mucas problems. We have just gotten a suction tube machine (don't know exact name of equipment), but her mucas is too thick for it. We must use the green sponges to swap her mouth out. Her Dr put on on, hyoscyamine, which helped alot the first 2...
