  • Hi Yasmin,
Just wanted to let you know that I will be taking a break from the forum for at least awhile. I have been having a huge increase in anxiety lately about my father and posts on here have been upsetting me. So, I'm going to take a step back. I will be popping back in after I clear my head. Reading about all the PALS passing away lately is just scarying me too much that I'm afraid I'll get that dreaded cal in the middle of the night that dad is gone. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Take care, Kim
    Hi Yasmin,
I'm working right now at the hospital. My dad and aunt came over to our house last night to celebrate Christmas Eve with us. We had a nice relaxing time and the kids now have another memory of their grandpa to look back on someday. Dad is getting weaker and it is hard to see. But, we are trying to take advantage of each moment that we can Merry Christmas! Sending you a hug, Kim
    Hi Yasmin,
I was off the forum for a few days and missed your posts about a toast in honor of Bob's birthday. I love to get on your profile and see the picture in which he is smiling. It might seem strange but he looks so happy in it that the picture cheers me up when I see it. I'm sure you were a big part of the reason behind that big smile. I am so glad that you have many happy memories together. Sending you a hug, Kim
How are you Yasmin? I added some new pictures I would like to share with you. Our sons got married. One was in Sept. and the other one in November. Now we are going to be grandparents!! Yes! Already... a honeymoon baby to our son Stephen and wife Wendi! :)
    Hi Yasmin,
How is your mom doing? My dad just went to the ALS clinic Friday for his check-up. His issues now are with his hands especially. He uses a bi-pap and they said his breathing has improved. Dad will continue to be rail thin but he did gain 7 1bs. Dad can still eat on his own but needs help cutting his food. So, even though he isn't in good shape it could be way-way worse at this point as you already know. I took our daughter to a Justin Bieber concert last weekend. He is not my cup of tea but he did put on a great show. I never felt so old in my life. lol Anything else new with you? Take care, Kim
    Hi Yasmin,
Sorry to hear about your mother and her fall. That would be stressful to deal with. I will add her to my very long list of people to pray for. I sure hope God has a secretary. I've been keeping him busy lately. Take care and thanks for replying to my message. Kim
    Hi Yasmin,
My son returned from Dallas Tuesday. He had a great visit with my dad. Dad is waiting to see if he gets to participate in a clinical trial. He was supposed to hear today but now they said it will be another 10 days. He's get impatient waiting. Dad seems to be at a standstill with his progression lately which we hope will stay that way. He gets some therapy and it really has helping with his speech and swallowing issues. Take care, Kim
    Hi Yasmin,
Our youngest son is in Dallas visiting my dad for a few days. He is having a nice time. My sister sent me a few pictures that she took with her phone. I am trying to keep from replying with sarcasm to people's post on here. But, if you need a good read you have to read the post about "My situation." It wins my award for the craziest this week. I think his handle is ALS BURGER. Hope things are going well for you. Take care, Kim
Thank you for your message today. Meeting you would be wonderful!! I was just also viewing your picutre of your husband. What a handsome man he was!! Such beautiful blue eyes and a wonderful smile!!
Its sooo hard.My husband still refuses all medication and he is suffering so much.I think his family thinks im not doing my job but i cannot force him to do what he doesnt want to do.I spend my time trying to make him comfy, making his favorite mels(hoping he doent choke or gag0 celebrate the ggod days ans pray to get through the bad..Im sitting beside him now while he sleeps and watching him breathe,,that is lfe now..that and a whole lot of tv!
    Hi Yasmin,
I was looking at your profile and saw about the cornflower. I didn't know that before. Your husband Bob was a nice looking man like my dad. I hate seeing my dad look so frail now. Do you have any children? Also, did your husband use Ritulek? My dad has been on it for a few months now. He's been really fatigued lately more then before and I am convinced that its the medicine. Take care and if you want drop me a line and tell me more about yourself. Kim
Hi! I seem to have misplaced my avatar and possibly my P Ms. I hate to bOther David as he must be incredibly busy with the loss of our wonderful moderators.
I'm OK, having some "down" moments as I face the continuing decline that Lou brings to each of us PALS. My R hand and arm are now weak enough to need to make some adaptations in how I do some things. Fortunately my L is still able to take over for many of these losses. L leg is weaker tok which brings about a lot of frustration trying to turn in bed an in getting out of it. I'm still able to do standing transfers on my own and am grateful for that. KK continues to work partime and has been a big help with getting me settled comfortably in the new bed at night.
I think about you often and appreciate the loving care you g
gave to Bob. I'm so sorry for all the "firsts" and everafters that you CALS face on a daily basis. My heart goes out to yOu.
    Deb
