Hi there,
I am brand new to this forum - joined a couple of hours ago - and this is really lame but I saw your message about the Dynavox and want to respond to it but can't figure out where to post. Maybe this will work? Anyway, my dad is a lot like your brother - completely paralyzed and can only use his eyes to communicate (and even that is getting very difficult as the muscles that control his eyes weaken) and the Dynavox really didn't work for him. It just sits in the corner of his room collecting dust, for all the reasons that you mentioned. What has been the best option for him is simply a letter board that sits on his lap. He got a little laser light that clips on to the arm of his glasses and he uses the laser to point at the letters or words that he wants. I won't sugarcoat it; it's laborious and he's not writing paragraphs to us, but it does work, and without it I don't know what we'd do. I hope this helps!
