    constipation

Hi all, I'm looking for advice as to dealing with constipation. My dear friend with ALS is having an awful time with this. I imagine certain foods would be helpful for prevention, but what to do when he's having the problem? Thanks for any help anyone can offer,

    sleep and ALS

oxygen Thanks for your respose! So are you saying that if his doc who says he should be on oxygen at night is not an ALS doc, there may be problems he isn't aware of? He did have pnemonia and was in hosp. but home now. Using oxygen only at night.

    sleep and ALS

I have a few questions concerning my friend with ALS. He says that while he sleeps, his oxygen makes him cold. He even gets a "cold headache". Is this common? Also am trying to figure a way that he can get a drink when needed during the night. Have to hang a container with straw on the bedrail...

Of course he has his terrible feelings of sadness...

Hi Irma, and thanks for your response. I hope to talk more with you. Sounds like your son was very lucky too, to have a loving Mom to care for him. It's heartbreaking to think about. I have such respect and compassion for my Jimmy's Mom, that she took on the huge job of caring for him. I know...

    Caregiving

Hello to all, I'm so grateful to everyone for "telling it like it is". In my situation, it's a bit different than you with spouses, that you have spent years loving, and now must (and of course want to) care for. My friend, who I met about 5 years ago, just had been diagnosed. As he got worse, I...

Thanks To All It is bittersweet to read all the replies of encouragement and support. Hugs to all of you. This is the worst thing to have to endure, watching, waiting, helping, and feeling helpless. Wondering how long it will go on is so hard, and wanting to help our loved ones not suffer...

to Gina and Landscape Thank you Gina, for responding to me. I felt bad after my first post, because it seemed inappropriate in retrospect. I'm sorry Landscape.
