  • Thank you for answering our questions. You have helped us. My husband's Dr. has wanted him to get the trach and the peg nowjust in case he may need them in the future. thanks again. We will look at the website too.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS!
Hi, I believe that getting my trache and vent was the best decision I have ever made. I feel the same about my PEG.
The care involved is simple and minimal. With a trache and vent you do require someone to be around 24/7, but that can be anyone. You don't need professional care, anyone can be easily be trained. The big reason for 24/7 is just in case something goes wrong. Having a trache and vent is very portable, it does not stop us from doing anything, they are very portable, a bipap is not.
I need my vent all the time but just because you have one does not mean you have to use it all the time.
I still eat, by mouth, and talk. Having them does not prevent this. If you could eat and talk before getting them it will not change after.

For more information look at our website, go to Content Index and then search for what you want. If you have more questions please let me know.
