    How do hand/arm cramps present?

    that sounds like neuromyotonia.

    I need advice?

If this developed in conjunction with epstein-barr and mono, chances are strong it could be a passing postviral syndrome.

Hey Jeff, I just wanted to advise you not to read too many posts on here. If you want some information to clarify that you don't have ALS, beginning indicators of ALS are as follows: -Obvious weakness -Profuse, diffuse, unrelenting twitching -Obvious atrophy AND weakness, if you suspect atrophy...

    fear

Your foot problem is embarrassingly similar to what I'm going through, right down to the checking the reflection of my gait in windows. For me, my left foot feels odd and tight whenever I walk, but whenever I look at my foot or strength test it, there's no abnormalities, no loss of strength...

New and Scared to say the very least

Your only symptom is muscle twitching, which is perfectly normal and given what you've said here, not indicative of ALS. Instead of needlessly scaring yourself on here, if you want to visit a forum to talk about your symptoms, your best bet would be Anxiety Zone.

    could it be bulbar

Twitching (fasciculation) and muscles getting smaller (atrophy) are lower motor neuron symptoms. If you've only ever had one episode of nasal regurgitation that hasn't happened again since 2011, it's likely that that's just a freak occurrence with no relation to ALS. Remember that ALS symptoms...

No, actually, I've gotten over my anxiety and I guess the only reason I'm still here is to help out others with theirs. I realize that I may have seemed overanxious in my previous threads, and I was, but thanks to you and others, I've become reasonably confident that I don't have ALS and am no...

At what point is a EMG to something?

I see you've been reading that "too early to EMG" thread. I suggest you stop, and realize that there's nothing to be gained from looking at that particular thread except the part where trfogey says that there is no such thing. You have had your clean EMG. You have been looked over by a...

    What are ALS variants?

Kennedy's disease and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (types 1-4) are two different diseases with different genetic causes. Kennedy's disease is also known as Spinobulbar Muscular Atrophy or SBMA. Both can be checked through genetic testing.

    What are ALS variants?

SMA of any type can be ruled in or out with a genetic test.

lol the twitching in your neck is causing your pulse to go up? That's impossible unless you mean that your anxiety over the twitching in your neck is causing your pulse to go up. Are you sure that the twitching isn't your pulse itself?

    Confused - please help!

Look bella, if you have a dent right now without weakness, it is not atrophy. If you have TWO SYMMETRICAL DENTS, I don't care even if you have weakness, it IS NOT ATROPHY. Quoting from the BFS forum, God decided to make these dents in your body so that the muscles and tendons would fit and...

    Confused - please help!

Absolutely not. You don't have ALS. Your symptoms are so unconcerning I'm not even sure why your neurologist even considered doing an EMG/NCV. He probably mistakenly thought it would alleviate your anxiety. You're showing the same classical symptoms of anxiety that I was showing when I began...

    currently in hospital

    1) yes 2) CK level is only elevated when there is marked damage to the muscles as far as I know. In ALS, they say that it can be either normal or a bit elevated. 2600 seems way too high, especially if you were in the beginning stages of ALS. It sounds like you could have an acute condition, but...

anyone heard of bulbar onset before age 30? 20?

Yeah sorry, I regretted making this thread almost instantly after posting it. If someone could delete this, that would be great. If not, I suppose it will get buried soon enough.
