  • Hey azgirl,

I was hoping to get your opinion on my symptoms as they seem to be similar to yours. I noticed mild weakening (no clinical weakness) as well as some atrophy in my right tricep area in late June. By early August the twitching started and now has spread everywhere (calves, feet, both arms, forearms, chest, shoulders, etc.) in less than 3 weeks. I don't have any noticeable atrophy or weakness anywhere else yet though. My EMG was abnormal in my right arm (where the fasciculations began), but the constant denervation has yet to spread. Nonetheless, I was wondering how you have progressed. I know experiencing widespread fasciculations are a first symptom is very rare, so it's scaring the crap out of me. I still am awaiting my appt with Dr. Appel (ALS specialist) here in Houston, but figured I'd ask about your experiences so far.

    Thanks for your help!
    Luke
Hi Kay...what time are you headed back to AZ? I had a busy day yesterday, it was my oldest granddaughters birthday...we had a family barbecue and party for her.
How did you son in law do in the competition? Hope you had a good time!!!
SnowBird Ski Resort is above Sandy, they have a few brew pubs up there and nice scenery....and only 45 minutes away. I would offer to show you guys around...but I am going on a motorcycle run tomorrow. If you get an early start consider Park City ......it is a fun party place, many brew pubs and could be just what you like! It is about an hour drive up Parleys canyon. Be safe and have fun :^)
Southwest crossfit regionals. My son in law competes. Any suggestions for a good drive or sight seeing trip or brewery? We've got all day free tomorrow until 3:00. We've never been to salt lake area before.
Hi! How are you doing? I saw that you like to read. What kind of books do you like to read? I have read almost all of Danielle Steel's books though they seem to be the same stuff over and over. I have read some Nora Roberts and have found her really good. I also read some John Grisham books and found him to be a very good writer too. Take care, Kim
    Congratulations grandma! How exciting.

This ALS thing is dreadful, but I am lucky to have met such beautiful angels on my journey! They make the intolerable, tolerable. But yes, there are indeed some dark days too. Your family sounds great - but I know exactly what you mean - I was used to running my own show - taking care of my family, a job I loved, folding the towels like I wanted them folded, running, skiing, traveling ... These days I am happy if I can transfer easily from one chair to another.

That's why the forum means so much to me. It's been a life line on so many levels. I am very glad you found us Kay. We're in this together!
