I started noticing that my speech was slurring, and I started having foot drop on my right side. My friends at work insisted I go to the ER on July 23rd. They did a Head CT-OK, Carotid US-OK, admitted me to get MRI and Echo. Echo came back good 60% EF, but the head MRI showed an acute or subacute infarct in the occipital lobe and based on the radiologist's findings I was diagnosed with a CVA. There is the other matter of every muscle in my body quivering, particularly in my biceps and forearms, which started in 05/2022. Like another new poster shared there is a wait to get in to see the doctor, the neurologist was able to see me in November. Fortunately for me, I was able to get in when a patient cancelled his appointment. In the past year I have lost about 100 lbs, figured it was because I am a smoker and live a stressed lifestyle as a union representative. The neurologist has known me for years, we did the push and pull test, hold your fingers out don't let me push them down, then did reflex tests, which I was overly reflexive. Told me to stick out my tongue, then said he needed to get a second opinion before giving me the provisional diagnosis. I asked him does he think Parkinsons or Lou Gerig's and the poor guy looked so sad. Another Neurologist saw me went through the same tests and advised to have him put me in her ALS clinic which I have an appointment this Friday with the clinic... may or may not get the EMG at that time, and I am scheduled for Thoracic and cervical MRI's on 9/15. I understand that I will then have to have a follow up EMG from another facility to confirm my diagnosis beyond it's provisional stage. They immediately ordered me Rilazule, I am taking another supplement Tudca to help with the oxidative concerns. Ughh...
