  • Hi-we just returned from a clinic which confirmed my mothers diagnosis of bulbar onset als- she is very depressed and discouraged. She is saying that there is no point in going through all of the trials of meds and tests as the outcome is inevitable. She is 81 and says that is a good life. Does anyone have advice on how to handle? Do we quietly listen or share our desires to have her live. Tonight I told her I have hope that she can still have a good life. She is a people person who loves to talk and share her stories-her voice is central. So sad but trying to be positive. I would appreciate any advice on helping to accept diagnosis and keep living. Thanks
