Sounds wonderful, if I can I will do it. I love to travel. So happy for you and even happier that you were treated well.

Signe, you should take a cruise. I can only speak for our experience, but Norwegian Cruise Lines was exceptionally accommodating for me in a wheelchair. Every place we went on board, staff were there to help my husband and I with anything we needed. Our stateroom was ADA fully accessible with no extra charge. We only had one hiccup upon departure from the ship when there was no handicapped accessible transportation to the airport available.
We had excursion choices that I could easily attend. The cruise arranged special transportation for me at each stop. I saw almost everything any guest would like to see. No hiking or kayaking though!:(
Another question, how was the food on the cruise. I'm bulbar onset so my swallowing is my worst nightmare. I was wondering if they can accommodate different diets.

They were very accommodating on menu options and asked constantly if there were any allergies. It's a good question about something special like a soft diet. I must say there were so many options available-never even came close to trying all the places. We only had a few disappointing items among the vast array-something for everyone. There were six of us and and a few were picky and not adventurous. Everyone in our group was pleased.

Thank you. I decided that if I fly again I will have to get a "special meal", I did get very hungry being not able to eat what was on the menu.

I have a busy week ahead. Both my brother and I have birthdays this week. His wife called me to see if we wanted to get together and go out to eat. This is the first year they will be full-time Florida residents. My card friends want to do something for me on my actual birthday and Fred wants to go to Orlando on Tuesday. We both need new office chairs. I bought mine nearly 20 years ago at a place called Relax the Back. Fred had lower back issues so he really needs a chair. Then he wants to go to a huge mall. I'll certainly take my walker. I'm glad it has a basket and a seat.

I'm also selling some furniture that I've had for years and replacing it with a pretty matching set of Stressless. Our local dealer had huge discounts this week.

I got a manicure today and a new bra. Gawd......36 D. Now I know what my mother went through. She had a 23 inch waist and a 36 D top when she was skinny. I will NEVER measure my waist again nor my hips. I just want to be comfortable.

Enjoy what you can, when you can, however you can.

Hoping for a hurricane-free season. September is the month with the most potential for hurricanes. We've had very little rain this Summer.

Happy early Birthday 🎂 Kim. Like you I have a birthday this week sharing the day with one of my grandsons and a good friend. It's going to be a busy week between lunches with friends and dinner with family.

I'm still adjusting to my weight gain, seems pants seem tight around the waist. Thank god for sundresses I'm living in them. ;)

We are definitely praying for a light hurricane season. My husband won't leave the state until season ramps down. Hoping it gets quiet by October so we can go back up north for a few months. Keep 🤞that the next couple of weeks go easy with the weather.

Happy Birthday to Kim and Lisa. Have a great birthday and enjoy everything.!!!

Happy birthday to all!

Happy birthday to you both! Yes, we are really hoping for a quiet hurricane season too, especially after Michael last year. We were so shook by how close we came to what would have been catastrophic destruction here in Tallahassee that I just had one of our most beautiful loblolly pines removed near our house.

It was more than 120’ tall with a four foot diameter base, but it was a double, or split pine, with one trunk that split off into two full trees. These type trees have that inherent weak spot where they split. It was less than forty feet from the house, and it was a definitive house killer (and the people and pets inside) if it were to come down. I’m quite emotional these days, and I shed more than a few tears when the majestic tree came down. I hate killing anything. Kevin

Kevin it is so sad when you have to remove a piece of nature, but it gets down to your safety or a tree I vote for you. We recently had to take down 2 trees ourselves for the same reason. I guess it's the price we pay to live here. In 1985 I lived on Long Island in NY when we were hit with hurricane Gloria. I lived 3 blocks off the LI sound it was a beautiful tree lined area lots of big old oaks lined the streets. On my block the trees all fell in the same direction. The one that should have fallen on my house at the last minute turned the opposite way and went onto my neighbors house. Knocked the house a couple of inches off his foundation. Luckily since living in Florida I haven't had any damage from the hurricanes even though with Francis and Jean we took the direct hits in Fort Pierce. Hurricane season is always a nail biter.

Fingers crossed this will be a mild hurricane season for you in he south and east coast areas. In Oregon and California, we’ve actually had a relatively mild fire season so far (knock on wood).

I completely relate to the angst in removing a beautiful tree. We had to remove a pine last year to accommodate the wheelchair ramp we had built leading to our front deck. However we re-landscaped the terrain around that ramp and were able to put in a very sweet dwarf Chinese elm. It’s a delight to look at it every time I ride my chair up the ramp.

ALS Association Northern Ohio Chapter Walk today in Akron. My family including husband, son, daughter, and mother were joined by several very good friends. More pictures to follow, but here is one of my mother, daughter, and I.

Happy birthday to all! After 23 years of *not* going anywhere just the two of us, the hubby and I are headed to the PNW next week to see friends and visit the coast. We spent four great years in Oregon so it's lovely to go back (and send the kids to grandma's for the week) for some alone time! I doubt we would have done this without the diagnosis, so maybe there are some hidden upsides, eh?

Happy birthday to both!

The midwest is getting some gorgeous cool weather right now and I'm already dressing in layers! ;)

Where in Oregon are you going?

CRUISE INFO; The WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILE SHOWER ROOMS are scarce, so book 6-9 months out. They normally charge rooms by sq ft, so bigger room = more money. We rent a scooter on board, normally in the room when you board. Wheelchair boarding at start and finish good. Getting scooter on crowded elevator is a challenge . Food court crowded serving aarea, be patient.

Need info on requesting shower chair, smoothie for pills and any info on British Isle or Normandy cruise /locations. Off boat accessibility to tour.
