Hello everyone, i am 25 year old male and i am worried sick i have ALS. I read the sticky thread about this and i know it’s very rare for a young person like me to have this disease but i still i am very worried and scared to death of dying.

I had a lot of symptoms in the past year.
My symptoms started with tinnitus (ringing in ears), 2 months after that: muscles twitching, numbness and tingling.
it went off and on, few days good and few days bad like that for 5-6 months and then all kinds of troubles started happening.
Migraines, dry eyes, one eye pain, blurrines, random muscles pains and aches, muscle stiffnes ( calves), random joint pains and aches, severe burning in feets, buzzing in feets.
Most of these symptoms come and go but muscles twitching, numbness and tingling is always there.
And then, 4 months ago i woke up one morning with right leg weakness ( i can walk normally but that leg just feels weak and wierd and sometimes i try hard not to limp) and 2 weeks after that, my right hand also felt the same way, but more mild than the leg. This persisted and it's not getting better.
The tests i've done: 3 MRIs of my head, 1 MRI of neck spine and 1 MRI of low back spine - all clean.

The thing that worries me the most: 2 EMG tests - both showed damages on my leg nerves. The first doctor told me it's radiculopathy from discs L4, L5 and S1. But MRI of low back disagreed with that.

The second doctor told me i have nerve damage but it's not from low back it's from something else and he doesnt know what it is.
EMG says ( i will try to translate it from my language to english): We register normal motor and sensory speed of conduction of the nerves of lower extremities with reduced amplitude potentials n tibialis left. The needle test of lower leg muscles both sides there is no signs of acute denervation. However, we register high amplitude potentials of prolonged duration with moderate reduction in muscles of lower extremities but with no significant asimmetry. (What does this mean??)

Here are two photos of my second EMG ( i didn’t get summary of my first test).

My vitamins are all good, except my vitamin D is really low.
I didn't know where to search for answers so i've been tested for Lyme disease ( i was bitten by a tick 9 years ago and didn't had any symptoms back then at all). One fragment of the test is positive and i took 4 weeks of antibiotics but I don’t feel better at all, which worries me more.

The sympoms i'm having right now in this moment are: Small and severe muscles twitching in my both legs, feet and sometimes in other parts of the body, burning and stinging in feet, ocassional nubmness and tingling in random parts of the body AND the most bothersome, the weakness in my right leg and right arm.

I know a lot of symptoms do not match ALS, but 2 dirty EMGs, severe muscle twitching and weakness i one side of the body - worries me about ALS.

Could this really indicate possibility of ALS?

PLEASE help!

Hi
There are many many causes of abnormal EMGs that have nothing at all to do with ALS

Your EMGs do not show the pattern of ALS at all. You need to continue to work with your doctors but your symptoms don’t align with ALS nor do your EMGs

You really do not describe ALS at all. Most of your symptoms seem to be sensory, ALS attacks the motor neurons. This is good news. An abnormal EMG does not automatically mean ALS. You also do not describe muscle failure at all which is the primary symptom of ALS. I wish you luck figuring things out.

Thank you for the replies! So you definitely think this is not ALS? Even tho i have leg weakness and my leg feels really have for more then 4 months now? I am really worried. I also have twitching in my “prostate/bladder” after i urinate and sometimes it will twitch by itself for hours. It’s really scary!

So you definitely think this is not ALS?

How many ways can we tell you we definitely don’t think you have ALS?
Sorry to be so blunt, but please go back and read Nikki’s response to you.
And please seek help for your anxiety.

You are 25. You have the potential for a long happy life ahead of you. It would be a shame to waste it worrying about a disease you don’t have.
No need to respond.

If you treat the Vitamin D deficiency, it will take time but you will feel better and see what else needs to be addressed. But you're in the wrong place here. All the best.
