hello,

i am a 38 year old male and have been having a need to "clear my throat" often. I do not have any slurred speach or problem drink liquids or food. Althutt I do suffer from occasional twitching.

Can bulbar start off as something as simple as "throat clearing?"

Thank you,

Joe

This is your 6th thread in as many weeks. Why is that?

Have you read the stickies or searched the forum? You would find answers to most of your questions there. Throat clearing is due to mucous. Mucous in the throat can be caused by allergies, acid reflux, smoking and any other number of things, including the common cold!

If you have neither time or inclination to do the research, please consult your physician to expediently quell your fears. In the interim, and to keep your list of worries ( saliva, twitching etc) in a concise order, please use one thread. It's easier for those replying to you.

ok, I am sorry to bother you as well as everyone else on this tread. You will see no further treads from me.

Thank you and I apologize again.

Absolutely no apologies needed. Just keep it to one thread. It's easier all around. I hope you consult your physician soon. You have a young family as I recall, and they need you to be healthy.

Elaine wasn't saying don't post :) She was simply trying to let you know that it is hard for many here to read multiple posts to keep a list of all their signs and such.

When/if a post gets locked start a new one if you need to--but otherwise, try and keep your questions to one so we can easily see what's been asked and answered.

Bulbar ALS--which is what I'm assumed you're worrying about now--would most normally begin with speech issues due to the tongue. It's the first thing affected in Bulbar. Your friends and family would notice before you did.

Elaine gave you a list of the possible causes of throat clearing--but if it becomes a problem, certainly see a GP as acid reflux can cause damage if not treated. Good luck to you

JStanz,

She posted that because you had a thread started yesterday too. It's much easier for most of us to find all the issues in one thread. But, on a good note, nothing you've described sounds like ALS.

Have you seen a doctor yet?

yes, doctor says it is aniexty and to take a zantax. 5 yrs twitching, had other health scaries which I thought were more serious and were not, etc. which equates to health aniexty if there is such a thing.

I am sorry your anxiety has made you so ill. There are alot of people who have it too. Many come here just like you. Its okay. You just have to work through it. Stay away from dr g o o g l e. I am glad you have something that can be t r e a t ed. I wish you a long and happy life. You should go celebrate. Hugs

I think I posted in your previous thread . Health anxiety will destroy your life as much as any illness. please get help for it
best wishes margaretx

Hello everyone,

I am trying to keep all my posts on one thread as you had recommended. I went to the GP and he told me the twitches were nothing to be concerned about. I am now thinking my right leg/foot is feally funny (mostly my big toe, but no toe dragging or tripping). I was thinking about going to the foot doctor for an appointment - do you think I am being overally obessed with this. Obviouly went on the internet and did all the home test - i.e. heel walking, toe walking, jumping and running down stairs, balancing on one feet - all were a passed fine.

Thanks and God Bless,

Joe

You may need to seek some counseling for anxiety and get some meds. The more you worry and test yourself the sicker you will become. There is nothing wrong with seeking help with anxiety, it seem to be taking over your life. I wish you peace.

There's a great thread here in the forums about health anxiety. It IS very real and requires help in dealing with it.
Good luck

Thank you ladies, I am starting my medication today. And yes, it effects works, friends, family, etc. Now I understand the reason on keeping these questions on one thread. You folks are very kind.

Hello everyone,

- do you think I am being overally obessed with this.

Joe

Yes Joe. You are. Thankfully it's an easier health issue to address than is ALS.

Good luck to you.

Pretty much what Elaine said. If you can do all that--you have no worries--I probably personally wouldn't even bother with a foot doc.

Health anxiety can manifest with very REAL symptoms--you're not making them up--but it's your brain that is causing them, if that makes sense. Not consciously.

SO yes, health anxiety definitely exists.
