Hi,
I just joined this forum for some support. My mom was diagnosed with bulbar als in December of 2012, and she is 86 years old. She has a peg tube and has to write everything down because we can't understand her. I am sad that she has to live out the rest of her life with this disease.

Hello,

Indeed, it's very sad for your Mom and your entire family. I hope that you've had the opportunity to meet with your local ALS chapter. In addition to assisting in getting everything your Mom needs, they also have great support for families as well.

I wish you courage.

I'm sorry you're here but there is a wealth of knowledgable people here if you have any questions. Educate yourself about ALS and get hold of your closest ALS Association. The have lots of information and also a loaner closet with equipment they can lend you for as long as you need.
