symptoms, but now diagnosis

hi all, my husband has been told that he is probably in the early stages of ALS. so far his symptoms are twitching in his legs, maybe one arm and bad leg cramps at night. i am really dumb about this disease and don't know what to expect or when to expect it. i hope you guys can help me as we start the process of being diagnosed. i hear some progress fast and others slow, hopefully his will be one of the slow ones. right now, he is still trying to work. how long that will last we don't know. he had a hip replacement in may and he was so hoping that his symptoms would go away after the surgery, but they didn't. the ortho told him that some of the symptoms could be coming from a bad hip and back. right now, it's like a white elephant in the room. we just don't talk about it but i know sooner or later we will have to make plans for the future. thanks for listening.
