husband was diagnosed in Dec. 2009 been sick for many years got type 1 diabetese. was blamed for alot of problems delveloped foot drop about 11 years ago . had every test in the world done seen 4 different nuero . docs was finally diagnosed in Dec . doc says he has had it for about 10 or 11 years . is in a wheelchair has been for about 5 years .speech is been slurring for aobut 1 year and doc is already talking to us about a feeding tube . IT HAS BEEN A LONG HAUL TO GET AND IT IS A BIG RELEIF TO FIND OTHERS GOING THROUGH THIS. I'm sorry to hear about your husband being diagnosed with ALS, especially after having been ill for so long. Seems to me that someone missed something along the way.
