Hello everyone,

I just joined this forum. My mom is in the process of getting diagnosed with ALS and my heart is breaking. She has Bulbar ALS so she has lost her speech abilities. Thus, she has been writing to communicate.

I'm asking if anyone has any sort of speech device for her. I understand it's very expensive and not something we can afford right now. If you have one that is used and no longer needed, can you donate it to us? Please let me know if you can help.

Thank you,

Julez

Julez, I use a Light/Writer that was loaned to me by the ALSA (ALS Association). They have a variety of devices that can help. Also, I have a more elaborate DynaVox, which was partially paid for by MDA (Muscular Dystroply Assoc.) Contact these two organizations ... I'm sure between them you will get some help.

Good luck to you and your mother. (I carry the Light/Writer with me everywhere. It is an enormous help.)

If you have a computer, download ETRILOQUIST which is free and easy to use.
