I have been asked to be a judge for the
"2009 ALS Awards for Excellence in Design to Improve the Quality of Life with ALS"
so will be in Vancouver from this Thursday through Saturday. There are a bunch of Engineering students who are developing devices to help PALS. Here are the entries;
1. Homer: A Simple Text to Speech Interface
2. Automated Communication Board
3. Back Rest and Chest Support
4. Remote Controlled Retractable Foot Rest
5. Eye-Gaze Tracking and Human Computer Interface System for ALS Patients
6. Single Click Communications System
7. Communications Software with Headband Activator
8. Dynamic Neck Brace for ALS Patients
9. Motorized ALS Neck Brace
I will let you know how it went and how promising these projects look.
There are people out there that are concerned enough about PALS that they are trying to develop aids to make our lives easier!
God Bless them!
