Try cutting the back of shirts (straight cut down middle vertically) and put them on from the front. If patient is in wheelchair, no one knows that the shirt isn't buttoned or zipped and they are much easier to get on!
 
Thats what I did with my PALS too. Another tip is to cut sweatpants down the back- all the way to the crotch- and then out to the side seams. Makes it much easier for toileting, and just like the shirts, the "flaps" can be tucked behind the hips/butt.
