Nasal Regurgitation ... now there's a horrible phrase that I can barely bring myself to say to my speech therapist, let alone type in the public domain!

So, in the interests of making life better I thought I would be brave and share my experience and solution to this nasty problem. I'm sure my trouble with this is very minor at this stage, however small ammounts of food make their way into innapropriate spots at the back of my palate. Once there they take only hours to begin to decay (I guess?!) and create something rather more unpleasant than halitosis.

For months I asked doctors and speech therapists for a solution; and then a helpful ENT Specialist gave me a "FLO Nasal and Sinus Douche". This is a small plastic bottle with a pointed lid and a pipe inside that allows it to squirt upwards. Several proprietary brands of solution are available from Chemists, usually in sachets that are disolved inside. The Specialist suggested to me that equal parts of Table Salt and Bi-Carb Soda is just as good, and very much cheaper.

For the time being this has proved to be an excellent solution to the problem. I use warm shower water in the bottle, with the salt and bi-carb mix (about a half teaspoon).

So, there you go!

Hi, Roderick. Sounds like a different version of a netti pot. Great tool and very helpful to people who work around dust and dirt, it really cleans everything out. Good luck with it!
