So I'm just finishing up the 1600+ built-in phrases for ModelTalker, and thought might be good to start a specific thread on what folks think would be good additional phrases to add.

The MT people point out to add the things like your name, family/friends names, occupation stuff, etc. But I'm sure there's alot of other good ideas to share out there. So far, without alot of thinking on my part yet, here's my add-ons (and some were mentioned in some other threads):

You're favorite exclamations ("That's awesome!", "You rock!", etc).
"My mind and hearing is not affected, just my muscles. You can talk normally to me."
"Happy Birthday!"
you laughing (I don't think MT handles this, but good to have recorded somewhere)
Any phrases helpful for your religious beliefs.
"It was great to see you today. Thanks for stopping by."

Other thoughts?

if you have children around maybe...no you absolutly may not do that! lol
i say that alot here.

oops - why was it that all the different ways of telling people to go away were the first things that came to mind!
WIll give it thought

Phrases I will have to put on "speed dial" on my talker:
"Go to your room!"
"Did you do your homework?"
"Wake up, you're going to miss the bus!"
"Because I said so!"
"Stop bothering your brother/sister!"
And of course, "I love you angel. Sleep tight."

Tajmom/Jennbenn.... those are great! :)

In my house I'd also have to add:
"Sit down at the table."
"Quit burping!"
"Come back here and clean up your mess"

Re: Suggestions for Model Talker phrases to add

Who me? I did not fart, the dog did it.
The dog spilled my drink.
How did that get there?
Might want to add a few moans, sighs, laughter,
Ow your pinching my "whatever"
You are the most wonderful person in the world to me.

Brian, a few phrases that I have programmed into my talking programs:

I am using a computer to talk so please be patient while I type
If there is no sound, don't worry, I am typing
Back to the previous subject
Please don't change the subject until I have time to comment
No thanks, I can't eat or drink anything
Excuse me for interrupting

Some of these are most useful for when you are talking on the phone but they can used anytime.

My Dad had a saying that he used lots over the years so we put it on his talking Machine so he could answer when people asked how he was - "Overworked, underpaid, tired, rundown, mean, ornery and miserable" Always brought a smile to the people visiting and also made them feel comfortable quickly.

"Please can you stop kicking me and pick me up and put me back in my wheelchair?"

Suppose this just reflects the way I am feeling at the moment but you never know, it might be useful

Love, Irismarie

Iris, I'm sorry you are feeling bad, but I must tell your post made me laugh! Thanks, Jennifer :)

BrianD- thanks for putting this up. It helps to know what's out there. I just downloaded the ModelTalker software.

If voice banking, try some favorite words for your dog or cat.

My most used phrase:
please wait, while i type a response

"If voice banking, try some favorite words for your dog or cat."

Good luck with that, I don't think that animals hear synthetic voices whether it is our own voice or a canned one. I would like to know if anyone has had any luck with this.
