My name is Charlene. Yesterday I received my diagnosis of ALS. I had written on this forum in November, concerned about symptoms of leg weakness, tripping and falling. Some of you wrote back with words of encouragement and promises of prayer. Thank you.
My GP referred me to two...

My PALS was diagnosed today with Familial Hypercholestoralemia. I have not read much on this forum about ALS and cholesterol. Someone once mentioned it was not an issue. I don't know if that is because ALS is so much more immediate or what.
MY PALS is 3 years stable, still can walk, and does...
My husband was recently diagnosed with bulbar ALS. He has been prescribed riluzole. Since we are just joining this group, I am noticing that this generic became available a year or so ago. Has anyone noticed any difference in efficacy between branded Rilutek and generic riluzole? I suppose...
I was prescribed omeprazole for GERD by the gastroenterologist who is going to do my g tube but looking at drug interactions omeprazole (prilosec) decreases the level of rilutek in the blood-not good for ALS. Any ideas of what to do?
We've beat up folks who've mentioned taking Lyrica.
But while trolling thru a Zinc/Copper discussion on ALSTDI I saw this comment in a post:

Well tomorrow I have to go in and tell my boss that I have ALS and have to file for disability. Should be interesting to see what happens.

My sister who just turned 59 yrs. old, Jill, was diagnosed with ALS on 6/25/14 by Forbes Norris Research Center in S.F., CA. They started her on Riluzole or Rilutek. They recommended she get a stomach tube put in since she had already been having trouble swallowing this whole time as well. The...
