Woodward Avenue in Detroit, Michigan, carries the designation M-1, so named because it was the first paved road anywhere.

And I thought my street lay claim to that. I figured because of its historical importance the town hasn't repaved it since.

Elephant babies are born after 22 months of pregnancy, with the whole family in attendance and a weight of about 220 pounds.

pi = 3.14159

(Has anyone ever used that info in normal daily life?)

I imagine several of us have used in our professional lives but I actually used it once in normal daily life. I needed to know the circumference of something circular and I could measure the radius so using my high school knowledge that the circumference = 2pi*r I worked it out. But now I will be awake all night trying to recall the specific object I was determining it for. Thanks Beth.

Beth, I used pi in quilt design...and quilting was part of my normal life. Apparently I also could have used algebra as well, but chose to use my husband.
