I bet you will probably be able to rest better when she's home. Take care, both of you.

Rose, Great news for you daughter. Get some much needed rest yourself. I know this may sound crazy, but it worked for me. Take a bunch of vicks vapo rub and put on the bottom of your feet and put socks over it. You will not cough all night long and will be able to sleep. I know, I know, but try it. It worked for me. Some email my husband got.

I am glad she is doing well Rose. I didn't know you were going through this. Get some rest, and try to recover a bit. And keep an eye on that cough and see a doctor pronto if it lingers.

Thanks again! She is so much better today. She was discharged around 11 this morning. Her hemoglobin is up to 8. The doc took her out of work, driving, climbing stairs for 6 weeks, but told us it would probably take a year for her to get back to her pre-surgery self. (I snuck my phone/camera into recovery) here she is a few hours after surgery. She actually looked better then than she did on day 3!

BTW I'm going to try the vicks on my feet, or at least my chest tonight.

Vicks under a old t-shirt works wonders.

Mind you , that was before I started wearing a mask.
Oooo ... just a thought , just a dab under your nose while wearing a full-face mask would be intense.

Also , when feeling poorly, having someone else rub it on your chest was always soothing too.

Thank you all ~ once again ~ I'm going to close this thread just because it has the potential to straggle on. Just wanted everyone to know that you truly are a Support Group, in the finest sense of the word.

About the Vicks and bipap, I put some on a piece of tin foil just outside of the air intake of the machine. I could smell it, don't know if it has permanently scented my hose and mask now or not. Most of last night had to keep taking maks off because of coughing though, so, I guess the vapors weren't strong enough to be a big help.
