I was indeed! The altar wine was white and kept in a mini-fridge in the sacristy of the church. This stuff I've got tonight is red and is cooling in the closet.

You're altar wine was white??? Never heard of that, seeing what it represents.
I guess that is what you pastor liked!
I remember when the custom changed & parishioners could receive under both forms.
The "wine/blood" offered at that time tasted like vinegar to me. Not sure if it was cheap or bad! Fast forward a decade or two, and it seemed more like grape juice. Another (ahem) few years and our current pastor likes his wine- Sunday's offerings are not bad!?!
(hope that doesn't sound too irreverent to non-Catholics!)

Girls, ages 8-11. They all live on our street so presumably we can get them home in the morning! Noisy and demanding ice cream. I'm on glass #2.

A semi-nice glass of shiraz ... fireplace.... Friday crossword....
Wow, a slumber party during the "Powerhouse Weathermaker"! (or whatever the latest and greatest name for this storm is) That will make some memories. I remember my parents having hurricane parties when I was a kid. We loved them. The awnings and shutters would be closed over the windows, so it would be dark even if it wasn't night,...lots of candles & a few strategically placed buckets.... potato chips and onion dip, chex party mix.... my parents and their friends would play cards, I think it was canasta, and god only knows what all we kids did; just listening to the wind howl and having candles around the house was exciting.

Glen-
That's true. And with the blizzard we are having here, as well.
My first son is a "blizzard baby"- 1978 (we were only married 6mo.), and those days they didn't have the computers for forcasting like today.
So, no one was prepared. I got ready for work, (7-3 shift at hosp) opened the door & just said "HOLY S***". I forget the amount- (I want to say 2ft ?) but there were 5-6ft drifts. Didn't get into work for 2days (yeah for me, felt sorry for the people who had to do double shifts) Philly was not good with snowplowing (only a little better now), and this was before front wheeldrive, all wheeldrive & SUVs!
There is only so much shoveling one can do before one needs to rest.....
Needless to say, the maternity ward WAS very busy 9months later!

HEY! It's Happy Hour at "The Friday Night Forum Follies Pub"!
The waitress just filled my glass from a gallon jug of Carlo Rossi Burgundy "Fine Table Wine" (ahem...) but she was pretty and promised to come back to refill.
What's in your glass?
Hope your wait staff is as pleasant as mine!

OK , I am drink free tonight. Recovering from a flu bug , still weakened from it.
Last night, what the hell , lets mainline that stuff.
60cc red wine neat.
WOA BABY , I felt like I had drank more than one glass.
A couple of hours of don't give a crap buzzin. The flu symptoms disappeared.
Ya , I am a cheep drunk - 2 oz of wine ...
Glen

Glen, I wondered where you were and figured you were either away or under the weather. Glad you're back and glad you're enjoying the vino!

No comment on the names of some of the drinks out there.
I am sure they are made to get young people into ordering them.
Like a "long slow screw" etc.
what happened to names like a "rum and coke"
Well I have commented, so be it.
cheers
Peter
