I am really relating to the question does God hate me. My husband Larry has been sick for 3yrs.with something that no one can dx.First neuro says ALS then backtracks, he has been seeing him for 3yrs test after test .Oct 29th we went to the Univ of IL in Chicago to an ALS neuromuscle specialist,After during a physical she says Myasthenia Gravis probably wants to do single fiber emg.which he had done today after 2hrs.of poking him with the needle & shocks she says that it didn't show MG now wants to do a single fiber emg around the eye area because she can see by looking in his eyes with a light that his muscles don't respond. He was so upset that he is thinking about canceling the appt in Dec. Today has been a day from hell I also got very angry at God today.I think he hates me too.I also lost my only son when he was 43yrs died from cancer,I have none of my family left,I have been a christian for along time & I do believe there is a heaven & hell.but sometimes I think hell is here on earth. Please pray that larry will get some answers.the doc also says not Als. but the his first doc says all the clinicals are upper & lower mnd.Sorry to vent so long but my nerves are just shot today.God Bless

Sharona, what agony! My Husband found the 2 hour long whole body EMG and NCS incredibly painful the first time around and will NEVER have another one per his request. What is the point? It isn't like they can cure him...Please accept my heart felt sympathy on the loss of your son. Sometimes [most of the time] I am amazed at how much we can survive. I hope that today will be smooth and stress free for you and Larry. hugs, Kay marie

i had a revelation in the shower today......there is a hell and sometimes, some of us get to know exactly what it would be like to be there. such deep agony, not just just the physical stuff but the gut wrenching, soul twisting termoil, the cry that sounds like it is straight from hell itself. it is a place i don't want to spend eternity....if you ever needed a reason to believe or to share the good news of eternal life in Jesus....
i am praying today for some cool water.....a little mercy in this dry desert, especially for you and your husband, Sharona

Thanks everyone for your responses.I guess I am just as overwelmed as Larry. I worked all my life in the medical field & usually can handle things really well I would tell my patients about God all the time & I did good as could be expected when my son was dying, but everyday I look at Larry & see how thin he is getting & he eats all the time & how weak he is I'm just overwelmed I guess.God Bless

I just finished a book about "Forgiveness & God" written about the tragedy in the Amish community here in Pennsylvania (Nickle Mines, Lancaster). The book was called "The Happening" and it had to do with the Amish forgiving and their faith in God's plan.
I can't believe God hates any of us......and just reading about the Amish and how they forgive, even a man & his family for killing so many children, their faith in God and his plan for all of us is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Anastasia,
I hope you don't mind if I share a few verses with you. Sometimes the right words don't come to mind, but then I think of the Word of God and certain verses seem to say just the right thing. In Romans 10:20 it says, "...I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me." Luke 19:10 says, "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost." I Chronicles 28:9 says, "the LORD searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek Him, he will be found by you." And, finally, in 2 Peter 3:9 it says, "...He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." God is seeking you, just as a parent would search for their missing child. And He knows what you are going through. He can meet you right where you are right now.

Patty,
Don't you wish that we could just get a glimpse of what is going on in heaven right now? But "I Can Only Imagine" what they must be doing.
But, I know the hurt that you are going through. And, I'm so sorry.

I have been right where you are in a sense. Our daughter, Melissa, was dx with brain cancer when she was 10. She had 18 hours of surgery, but they couldn't get it all. As she turned 12, she started having headaches again and the doctor said she had to have surgery again. 16 hours later, they told us it was on her brain stem and they, again, couldn't get it all. Fourteen months of chemo later, she was doing okay. That fourteen months was hell on earth for her. She was sick most of the time, lost weight, and couldn't be around most of her friends for fear of getting sick.
Fast forward five years. She had her MRI and she was doing great! She was dating a great guy and was about to get engaged on Friday. She was on her way to apply for a part time job and was in an auto accident. Her boyfriend came up on the wreck! We had to take her off life support the next day. I can identify with how you feel losing a child. I wondered when she was dx with cancer, why her? She was an innocent child. But then I saw a newborn baby dx with leukemia. Melissa died at age 19. 1998
I think about her often, of course, and now more than ever because I know I will be able to see her soon. I am a Christian, I know God loves me and He cares what I am going through. I just have to let Him help me. Right now, I am having a hard time doing that. I know HE can, but right now, I just can't let go and let GOD.
I keep praying that I will be able to do that soon.

oh, deborah, i can't even imagine. i am so sorry for your pain, i wonder just how God will make this right....i know He will. maybe not in this life, but what kind of reward can make up for all this......ok, that's my natural man talking.....my spirit tells me there will be God's justice and mercy....i am just not feeling it today. one thing i have learned, if this faith, if this jesus were not real....i would have bailed after this turn of events. It is beyond my comprehension how i STILL know that God is good. But I do, and so do you. love and hugs to you.

Read these posts with great interest. As I read, one question kept coming to mind: Why does God get all the blame? Scripture is pretty clear that we are in a spiritual battle and there are two sides. Thanks be to God that our side WILL win. Jesus and Paul both tell us that we WILL suffer--both of them did and did not think it out of the ordinary. As I Corinthians 13 reminds us "now we see but a poor reflection; then we shall see face to face." We are only one small piece of God's big plan. We will never understand this side of heaven. Job never knew why what happened to him happened. As a friend once gently reminded me--God only asks that we trust Him and stay faithful.
Does that mean we can't express our pain? Does that mean we need to have a "Pollyanna" approach to suffering? Does that mean God doesn't care? I don't think so--the Bible is full of people who told God and lamented to Him about what was happening to them (or to Israel). HE understands far better than we do what we are going through--HE experienced it all on a hill called Golgotha.
