The Blessing of Hymns

I have been playing the piano and singing hymns lately. This lifts my spirits, and helps with the fears and sadness that comes with my ALS disease. Today I was particularly blessed by the following hymn:

All to Jesus I surrender, All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him, In His presence daily live.
I surrender all.
I surrender all.
All to Thee, my blessed Savior, I surrender all.

In surrender to Jesus of all my life, my cares and trials, I find great peace and even joy.

Anyone have a hymn to share?

I have too many favorites to list them all. I will limit it to 3, but that is certainly an injustice:)

Great thread! How about "Be Still My Soul". I especially like the end of the second verse: "Be still my soul, the wind and waves still know His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below."

"It Is Well With My Soul" is another favorite. Our God is faithful!

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll,
Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul.

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, the clouds be rolled back as a scroll,
The trump shall resound and The Lord shall descend, Even so, it is well with my soul.

The author of this hymn suffered a terrible tragedy. His wife and four daughters were travelling by ship from the US to Europe, when the ship sank. His wife survived, but his daughters did not. He took a ship to the spot where his children drowned, and wrote this triumphant hymn. Ah, the beauty of faith and love for God in the midst of terrible grief!

Another great hymn! I'd forgotten about that one as I've been recently compiling them for a cd collection.

This runs through my head when I'm not being my usual charming self.
 
We must remember that we are covered in His blood and He has already given us victory! Praise and worship him in song.
 
Our closing hymn yesterday was "I'd Rather Have Jesus", which I had probably not sung in over 30 years. It was wonderful:

I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands;
I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand

Refrain:

I love the hymn...Because He Lives...I Can Face Tomorrow...Because He Lives...All Fear Is Gone....
And also Surely The Goodness of The Lord Is In This Place
They both bring me great comfort!

I'm sorry Charlene, I had the title wrong...the title is Surely the Presence of the Lord is in this Place

The words are:

Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place
I can feel His mighty power and His grace
I can hear the brush of angels wings
I see glory on each face
Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place
 
As KimT said above we are ALREADY healed (By His stripes we ARE healed) - its up to us to access this healing - put it into action -- and PRAISE Him!
