Unable to go to church, but you have become my church family. Thank you for being there for me and so many others.

Talk about memory, Jeanne, and I definitely come up on the short end. I forgot who sent it to me and could not figure out how to search my old posts?

I printed that, Faith, out right after you sent it to me and it now hangs on the wall behind my computer, where I can remind my mind of it everyday. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

This was my first time on this thread. What a blessing you all are. I am a CALS and we have been dealing with Gerald's (PALS) diagnosis since 2002. The Lord has given us the strength that we have needed. We have grown and changed so much in this time. Many times I have taken comfort in the Psalms, knowing that David certainly knew what it was to suffer unjustly at the hand of Saul, just as the PALS and CALS suffer unjustly at the hand of this disease.
One of my friends, who had read one of Philip Yancey's books, brought out the point that God never told Job what was going on (as far as we know, anyway). All He ever required of Job was that he remain faithful to the Lord. Sometimes that is enough for me to remember and to help me through the next crisis or disappointment.
Romans 8:18: I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
Romans 8:28: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:35: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or
persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
In Christ, love and prayers,
Sharon

Default Welcome Sharon

Hi, and welcome, sorry you had to find us on this sight at all, but welcome and I am glad you are blessed. I think that's what it means to be called according to His purpose. I am not dx. with anything yet, but I differently was drawn to the people here. Capt. Al, on Sunday mornings when we can't make it to church, I know what you mean by finding the real Church here. I thank God everyday for bringing me to you people. You have really blessed me too. I pray for everyone today for healing, peace and a since of direction and most of all a closer walk with Him. Amen

Hey now watch it. My head is big enough already. Let's give the cudos to the one who really deserves it, God. I'm just clay being molded into whatever the Master wants me to be and for whatever reason.
I am just a sinner saved by grace. All honor and glory be to the Father.

Hello Robert...It's nice to meet you!

I was reading your post about 'Fear of the Lord.' I am a Christian/Catholic. Fear of the Lord is one of the 7 gifts of the 'Holy Spirit'. It is received during the sacrament of 'Confirmation' along with Counsel, fortitude, piety, wisdom, understanding, and knowledge.

Fear of the Lord gives us a great respect for God, and the 'fear' is a fear of offending Him, in any way.

"And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him: the spirit of wisdom, and understanding, the spirit of counsel, and of fortitude, the spirit of knowledge and of godliness. And he shall be filled with the spirit of the fear of the Lord....

(Isaiah 11:2=3a Douay-Rheims Bible 1582)

"The beginning of wisdom is fear of God, understanding and good to all, the ones observing it; and piety to God is the beginning of perception; but wisdom and instruction, the impious will treat with contempt. (Interlinear-Septuagint)16

I hope this has helped in some way. God bless you in your journey.

take care

Hallelujah! I cannot tell you how thankful I am to see this thread! I could write all night about the things God has done in my life. I am new to the forums and am learning my way around, so I hope I am posting correctly (if not, I know Al will help me )

I have not yet been diagnosed with ALS, but all signs are pointing that way. My grandmother died of Bulbar ALS at age 50 and I have recently begun having the same symptoms as she did. I never would have thought to put my symptoms together if it weren't for the fact I witnessed her progression.

I am 35, happily married and the mother of an 11 year old boy. Although I am dealing "unofficially" with this disease, God has given me SO MUCH peace, it's amazing! He has already worked miracles in my life by drawing my husband and I closer and showing me EVERY DAY that He hears my prayers. I am amazed at the prophetic word that people walk up and give to me - and they have no idea what I am going through.

I wanted to share some of the scripture I have been praying that God is hearing and answering...

I John 4:17
"By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world" (NIV)

- The important phrase to note is "Because as He is, so also are we in this world". Think about it -- Jesus walked in this world with unlimited faith, had a direct line to the Father, and in the midst of the most horrible fate we could ever imagine, never lost His faith and had no fear. If I am like Jesus in this world, then I have what He had and can face anything knowing that God will give me strength.

2 Timothy 1:7
"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawing fear), but (He has given us a spirit) of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self control" (Amplified Bible)

- When my mind starts wandering and thinking about what this disease does, I just refocus my mind by praying this scripture.

Isaiah 55:11
"So is My word that goes out from my mouth; It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it"

- Tie this one with 1 John 4:17 and you get this.....If we are like Him in this world, then His words (scripture) that go out of our mouth will not return empty, but will accomplish what He desires (which is to fulfill the promise He gave us in that word) for the purpose for which He gave it to us.......So, if we remind Him of His promises when we pray, then He has to listen because His word does not return empty or without accomplishing the purpose for which He gave it to us (you have to really think about this).

I know this is a long post, and I apologize. God is so huge in my life right now and is revealing so many things that have strengthened me, that I have to share them or else I'm going to burst!!!!

He is my refuge and my my fortress, my God, in whom I trust (Psalms 91:2).

God Bless every one of you, and I pray His blessings, comfort, and peace be in your life and in the life of those you love.

Your post was not to long, and it was very uplifting. I am happy to see people of Faith hold on through the most difficult times people can imagine. I am a Fox news watcher and it seems to me this is what the world has lost. I am a mom also {7}. With that many kids I have drawn on my Faith a whole lot. I feel this fellowship here will strengthen and keep us focused on the real prize. I will be praying for you and your family. I am happy God has blessed you and your husband through this and I am also glad you recognize the blessings through the trials. Everyone here is in my heart and prayers.

mommi

Thanks for your uplifting words. It can be hard to remeber what the ultimate meaning of life is. I focus on being sad for what is happening to me and how it will affect my family instead of what will happen in heaven.

Does anyone think that there are windows in heaven? (to see my kids)

mommi,

I agree, your post was not too long at all. I think we were all put on this forum to support each other and give help to those that are lost. God has something special in store for every single person, we just don't know what that course will be! This disease takes an enormous amount of faith, and I struggle at times with that, but I continue to pray for a miracle! You are certainly in my prayers, as well as everyone on this site!
Keep the faith,
brenda

Thumbs up

If I never get another prayer answered, I have my miracle. My sins have been forgiven by the blood of Jesus. Past tense. It is finished. What more could I ask for in my life?

Thank you heavenly Father, for sending your son to die on the cross for our sins, and not only to die, but to be raised from the dead to show us the promise of eternal life that awaits us after we depart this life. I also thank you for the many Christians here on the forum and for their faith that allows them to overcome the trials and tribulations that come with this horrible disease. I thank you for their comforting words and encouragement as they share with one another. I ask that you bless them in a special way, guide, and direct all our comments to help reach out to those who have not accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.

Father, in the name of your son Jesus, I ask you to touch the lives of all who read these posts and somehow open their hearts and lives to receive your truth. For your honor and glory alone we ask these things, in the name of your son Jesus Christ. Amen
